I think the narrative has changed. We are now playing for a playoff spot. JJP has had a whole year to acclimate. Either he can kick it up a gear, like he did during the Calder Cup playoffs last year, or he can sit and watch Hino do so. Either way, it’ll be a learning experience for him.

When did that narrative change? Sure they are competing for a spot but the lack of action this week indicates they want the kids to be the ones to make it happen.

Where does Greenway slot once he gets here?

The line of Cozens, Mitts and Vinnie looks terrific together (admittedly small sample size)

Jost Z and KO seem fine together and Quinn is excelling playing with Thompson and Skinner.

That leaves JJP, Krebs, and VO.  Who are you sitting for Greenway?  JJP?

No way you take JJP out of the lineup right now.   He's getting a boatload of scoring chances lately, eventually he'll start cashing in.  IMO he's playing well.

VO is the odd man out.

Vinnie is out till Tuch comes back then the harder decision has to be made.

No blocking rule helps JJ at this point, like it or not.

Probably correct.  But when the Thompson line took to the ice at the end of the 1st looking to sneak a lead before the period ended, Granato put Olofsson out on the ice with the 2 regulars from that line.  Expect it's goning to be mainly either just Vinnie sitting or him and Peterka rotating shoulc everybody be healthy.

Granato loves him some VO.

JJP is playing better than Vinnie and VO.  It should be one of the latter 2.

I'd guess VO sits but it could go either way.

A related question is:  whom does Greenway play with?  I'm guessing he goes with Cozens and Mitts, with Vinnie either sitting out or taking VO's spot with Krebs and JJP.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the next couple of games.

Girgensons is more valuable than folks give him credit for. More often then not he wins those races to the puck on dump-ins and then muscles his opponent out for control.

To our opposition, Girgs is hard to play against.  He sticks his nose in places that other players on our team avoid.  Absolutely he is valuable and his style will not often reflect in goals and assists.  IMHO our team would be better if more of his teammates would mimic his style vs. spin away from contact.

No way in the world Yost is sitting - he’s paying extremely well and may have been the best player on the ice today

Whoops, I wasn’t intending to say he should be sat. That’s my bad for not following the conversation. Truth be told I was just looking to say “yost” with y

Maybe best option is just to let Greenway sit and wait for an injury.

Just saw Quinn's goal, sweet shot! He's a good one.

No way Henny comes out, VO and JJ are getting in a grove with odd man rushes, I'd like to let them figure that out.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

VO needs to sit. Idk why they keep playing him.

Last 10 games: 0g, 2a, -9

Those 2 assists came 10 games ago so since the last 9 has been 0g, 0a, -8. VO needs to be offloaded in a package this summer.

Yeah they should’ve shipped him off with his best bud.  Preds probably didn’t want him tho.  Replace him with Kulich and now we’re talking.

I'm prepared to replace him with Savoie as soon as October.

Savoie, Kulich, someone that brings anything other than a lethal PP onetimer.  I could probably live with Victor’s limitations if he didn’t avoid contact like plague.

I think they will find someone to take VO during the offseason. Two things work in their favor. Fans that don’t pay attention to the whole package will be impressed with his skills and goal scoring which will make him an easy sell to a fan base, and thankfully,  there are still those in position of power in the NHL that are intent on building a team their way, analytics be damned.

And he can score. So he could fit somewhere else that needs help on the PP or a finisher type of winger.

Not disagreeing, but VO too often flunks the eye test too.

Im sure there are Brian Burke types who won’t want anything to do with him.

Fortunately, you are right, there are other guys who will be desperately needing a finisher who will be willing to ignore the rest: 25 goals are 25 goals.

Im kinda expecting a trade or trades that move out VO and move in a Jokiharju-level defenceman.

And by Jokiharju-level, I mean somebody relatively young and relatively anonymous who’s probably more capable than the average fan gives him credit for and has room to grow. Think of Lydman when we got him from Calgary, except probably younger.

Or they trade VO for a Ryan Johnson level D prospect and acquire a vet free agent to bridge us until that player and Johnson arrive.

You don’t need to tell me that, I know what you think.

He’s a scorer, he will work through it. New line mate and they seem to be really developing chemistry. Let it play out

I'd say it's pretty obvious that Hinostroza will sit for Greenway, he was on waivers and nobody picked him up. I'd rather have Greenway's presence even if it's just hitting than Vinny getting manhandled by just about everyone imo.

I gotta agree with this.

Granato’s already demonstrated his pecking order and it’s not like this is the 1st time VO has hit a drought.

I’m thinking Greenway probably gets to start alongside Casey and Dylan.

It fits development-wise with the idea that Granato thinking he has upside and the skill set to play with more talented players.

And it fits tactically, in that he makes our second line much harder to play against in both zones.

The ironic thing about Olofsson is now that the team has enough talent at the other F slots they could afford a PP specialist on the 3rd or 4th line, with the addition of Greenway they have 12 other options that are better even with Tuch out with the injury.

Still don't expect him to sit - Granato loves him some VO.
