So if we draft Power, does he project to 2nd pair, after Dahlin? Is it a bit odd to devote a 1st overall pick to filling a second pair D role?

He does and yes it is odd.  He seems like a high floor, relatively low ceiling prospect.  Steady Eddie.  Really not psyched about the possibility of him being the pick.

Devoting 2 first overall picks to the same side of the D just seems off. Maybe they will consider others

It's another example of a lack of preparedness.  Was it not discussed at least once, prior to tonight, what sort of tone would be appropriate to take should we win? Smiling and "proud" is not the appropriate tone when you've sucked this hard for this long.

Can't fault the smiling.  Nothing he could do today about the finish last season.  Most people crack a small smile even when just getting a free coffee or fries.

But being "proud" of winning the lottery for which they had the best odds of winning PLUS the rabbit's foot that Taylor Hall brings wherever he goes seems to be a very poor wording choice.

Ryan Johnson is sad now.

Oh it's more if they take power.

1st, 31st, 32nd and 1st all left handed picks by Buffalo in the last 4 years.

We're not drafting Power.

Matthew Beniers.

IF they decide before the draft they CAN figure out how to keep Eichel & Reinhart, then they might draft Power.  Otherwise, yeah, expecting they need to draft the 3C to ride behind Cozens & Mittelstadt in Dahlin's prime.

Oh hummm. We have to bash. Let's give it a break and not just look for ways to criticize. Man there's enough to with out this! This forum can be down right depressing.

Said it before, will say it again.  It's going to be a VERY long off-season.

100%.  They are getting a really good player who will contribute, very soon be it Power or Beniers

you can do much worse than having Dahlin and Power on your top 2 pairs

Why? Draft the forward. There's 3 nhl lhd in the pipe or on the team.

Oh yes, thanks to Taylor Hall.

More so than the strength or weakness of this draft class, I think what muted the win for me was all the uncertainty around Jack. It's hard to see exactly how this will fit.

I’m kind of like this too.  But whatever happens I would still much rather have one then three.

You take the best player regardless of position.  They should take Power, he is the number one prospect.

Kid is Canada’s number 1 dman at the WCs.  He went from no ice time to top minutes in a couple games under a proven coach in Gallant. The lineup isn’t strong but still an accomplishment for sure for a kid who hasn’t been drafted yet.

Tune in tomorrow, they play Russia.

If they are blowing this up then it is easier to get top end scoring prospects back rather then top shelf stud dmen prospects.

And NO, Power isn’t Myers because both are tall. Power has great hockey sense on the back end which Myers never had a lick of.

I don't have to bash any more than they have to be stupid.  They are welcome to choose to stop being idiots any time. When they choose to stop being idiots I will be happy to stop calling them idiots.

Maybe you need to reevaluate why you want to hang around. Seems like you're putting yourself through too much emotional energy.

Cosentino going on about Power playing top pair with Dahlin next year. Both LHD - not gonna happen

This team has spend 3 Picks all in the Top 32 over the past three drafts on LHD.  Move down one spot and make a deal with Seattle for the expansion draft
