Stevie Y is indeed heading back to Detroit after this season, per reports. Tampa Bay should be livid this somehow transpired. BriseBois is very good, though.

The reports refer to Detroit.  It's a city.  There's no mention of him joining the Red Wings in any capacity.

Wonder how much #Isles brass is over John Tavares? How about this from Lamoriello today: “There’s no aftermath. Players come and go. It’s different if they had won championships. It’s different if they had had a lot of success. They haven’t done much.

It's different if they had any success?  That sentence applies to just about everyone involved in the discussion; Toronto, the Isles, and Tavares.

William Nylander's name was not included on the Leafs' list of those coming to camp.

I am fairly sure Reinhart's name was included on the Sabres' list.

Anything to see here?

Certainly a potential problem for the leafs. They have to sign, Marner, Mathews, Kapanen, and Carrick before July 1st. That is going to suck up a good chunk of cap. Fitting in Nylander this year to a friendly deal is vital.

They are at 66mil with only about 7mil coming off next year. 7mil will probably pay for Marner with some left over to fit in Carrick. The cap raise probably takes care of a little too. Matthews is going to want and get 10mil or more. That brings you up to 77 or so million. That's 5million to fit Nylander and Kapanen in depending on the cap increase. That's also not accounting for signing a backup goalie or just regular UFA/RFAs that they need to fill out the team.

@DarrenDreger believes that the Nylander side may be asking for as much as $8 Million on a long-term deal, while the #Leafs may be offering closer to Nikolaj Ehlers ($6 M AAV) or Sean Monahan ($6.375M AAV).

This makes me happy. Are bad things going to happen to me now?

Longstanding notions that younger players don't like playing for Babcock are probably pretty accurate

@reporterchris
Mike Babcock, on Auston Matthews's desire to have more assists than goals this season: "Well then Willy's got to show up and Willy's got to shoot it under the bar."
