Trade Speculation and Rumors 2018-19

I know the Blues stuff is just rumors at this point, but there is enough smoke to at least look at the prospect reports for some of their players that have been mentioned:

Robert Thomas - sounds like a 2nd line center potential with more of a two way game compared to the more offensively minded Middlestadt.

Colton Parayko - big bodied defenseman with a heavy shot and solid two way game; older (25yo) player who has already established in NHL

Vince Dunn - good skating offensive defenseman.

I would be completely fine with any combination of two of those guys, though some would require more adds from us or them than others.

In my search a fun article discussing how the Blues can target a Top 6 center from back in May. Speaking to the Blues prospect quality on defense as a place of strength to trade from.

Me too. We'll see if STL agrees that ROR has that value.

Am I the only one that doesn't want Rob Thomas? Feel like we've heard the description of a guy with not great skating ability, a high motor, and good brains that could be a 2nd line center from so many of our own guys. Can we get some speed wingers already?

And LeBrun was willing to carry all sorts of water for him...

Reported Montreal trade came from Sportsnet’s Eric Engels, not Lebrun

Thomas looks very much like a young ROR and you hope he develops into ROR.

I would rather get Jordan Kyrou over Robert Thomas but that’s just me

If Parayko is included, I don't really care who the prospect is.

Blah boo on a younger potential RoR, and boo on Parayko. Give me Kyrou as the main piece

You're nuts. Parayko is by far the best realistic piece we can get back.

And there is a consensus among blues fans that Thomas is more untouchable than Kyrou.

There's no way Kyrou is better than Thomas.

Maybe, but he's not the piece I want. We have absolute zero for wingers

Maybe you don't think so, but I've read about 30  Blues-ROR trade proposal threads on hf and that's their consensus, not mine.

I have never seen a second of either of them, FWIW.

So, if O'Reilly is out, what UFA does Botterill make a play for to backfill his #2C role?

Beagle makes sense as a fantastic 4 or an OK 3, but he isn't a #2. Mittelstadt isn't ready to step up & don't want Reinhart there either.

So, who is the mystery man they try to get?

Per LeBrun

“Ryan O’Reilly is still very much an option for the Montreal Canadiens."

"I think the St. Louis Blues are probably the front-runner right now for Ryan O’Reilly."
