The Merry Christmas 2015 Thread!

Eleven

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, I often change my user name to Santa Claus around this time of year and write a (what I find to be) clever little poem.

This year is a little different.  Due to my appearance as Apostrophe Crusader on September 25, and due to Sabrespace thinking that there are only 30 days in October, I am not allowed to change my user name.

I also am not feeling particularly clever today.

So I want to just wish you all a merry Christmas.  In the secular sense; whether you're Christian, of another faith, or of no faith at all.

You're all wonderful people and I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow, and I hope you also have a wonderful New Year's Day (again regardless of faith) a week from tomorrow.

And GO SABRES!

Surely the mods could make an exception and allow you to continue this Sabrespace tradition. I for one would like our yearly Christmas story.

I messaged someone back in late September.

The rules are the rules.

It may be that the software makes the rules! Who knows?

If you want a short poem:

There once was a man called Carter

Who was well known to be a good farter

On Christmas he came

And questioned my name

And now his posts are non-starters.

Same here. But, I always look forward to Eleven starting this thread, and I'm glad he did. Merry Christmas Eleven, and the rest of SS

Well, what the hell.  It's midnight and I'm not sleeping anyway.  So, here's to the last of my Maker's and to the last of my waning creativity:

It's twelve o'clock on a Christmas day

The regular crowd shuffles in

I'm finally allowed to change my name

But ###### it, I'm all out of gin.

You all say you want a Christmas song

But I am all out of ideas

Still, in the keeping of tradition,

I'm trying to keep it all reals (wow what a ###### rhyme)

La, la didi da

La la didi da, da dum

Sing us a song, you're the Christmas man

Sing us a song tonight

'Cause we're all in the mood for a parody

And we're drinking and feeling all right

Now d4rk at the bar, he's a friend of mine

He dates this girl called Josie

And qwk takes a toke and NS tells a joke

But the playoffs is where we'd rather be

Deluca is trying to kill me

As we debate here on Sabrespace

And Yeichel could be a superstar

If the Sabs could get out of last place

La, la didi da

La la didi da, da dum

Sing us a song, you're the Christmas man

Sing us a song tonight

'Cause we're all in the mood for a parody

And we're drinking and feeling all right

PA is a Sabrespace realist

Who never had time for some joy

And he's talking with WildCard

Who's still trying to get it hard

While Chz is just playing coy.

And freeman is practicing politics

While trying not to seem so far right

And he's talkin' with Hoss, who thinks he's a boss,

But Glass Case's points take the night

Sing us a song, you're the Christmas man

Sing us a song tonight

'Cause we're all in the mood for a parody

And we're drinking and feeling all right

It's a pretty good crowd for Christmas day,
and SDS gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me you've been waiting to see
to forget about life for a while

AND THE ARENA SOUNDS LIKE A CARNIVAL (yeah right)
As Drunkard drinks another beer
Taro's at the bar, and ink's got a new car,
But, at the end, we're all still here.

Sing us a song, you're the Christmas man

Sing us a song tonight

'Cause we're all in the mood for a parody

And we're drinking and feeling all right

Merry Christmas, all of you.  As always, I wish I could have worked more names in.

I look forward to it every year Eleven, made my Christmas with that post, thanks

And Chz, to be fair I've had a lot to drink tonight.

Who/what is Eleven?  I think that means elf in German.

Also, I'm out of Maker's.  WTF?!

Amen

Merry Christmas Sabrespace.

Appropriate pic for the full moon tonight, too.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

This is beautiful.  It's certainly much better than a crappy parody of Piano Man.

I am not a religious person.  Ten years ago I'd have railed angrily about how dumb I find Christmas and all that's associated with it to be (and it likely would have gone on from there).  A few years ago a strange thing happened, though.  I watched my daughter open her presents on Christmas morning, the first Christmas she was really aware of what was going on.  Watching her joy, feeling the magic she was sure was responsible for everything under that tree, and in spite of myself getting into it with her was amazing.  Since then, I've loved every second of it, as I'm watching it through her eyes.  In a world with so much crazy surrounding us the last vestiges of the innocence of childhood are something to be protected at all costs.

This morning was rough.  I'm working a day shift, had to be in at 7.  Fortunately the Kiddo's a trooper and was up at five and away we went.  Hurt a bit to have to leave them, but grateful as heck for the time I had and how fortunate we truly are.  Hopefully everyone takes every and all opportunity at this time, and every time, to spread a bit of love however we choose to do it, and to appreciate the love we all are shown.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
