If we lose to Denver our playoffs chances are basically toast though so no real point in speculating past that point. Sure our record is already improved over last year but the talent on the roster is vastly improved over the teams Dick Jauron was able to go 7-9 with and who have we really beaten that was any good? Going 9-7 does 2 things. 1) Secures us a winning record for the first time since 2004 2) Ensures that we beat at least one really good team. Assuming we beat Oakland it would also mean that we have to win either at Denver, vs Green Bay, or at New England. They are quality opponents and contenders and in order to have any chance of being a good team you have to be able to beat quality opponents. Finishing 8-8 with wins over the Bears, Lions, Vikings, Jets x 2, Dolphins, Browns, and Raiders? Not so much. Ideally, I like to see us finish 9-7 or better, keep Marrone and hopefully he decides to replace Hackett but we'll see how it goes. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

NFL: The Bills might be able to beat the Pat's 2nd and 3rd string, we'll give them the last game so there's a chance NE will rest people. Since 2010 at Pats 2/4, at Jets 1/4, host Jets 1/4. 2011 They were at Pats in week 16 before hosting the Jets in week 17. that's a more logical answer. :) Don't count on Belichick resting people, it's something that he doesn't do. Just looking at the past 4 years, the Pats have had the division well wrapped up and Brady was still starting and finishing in week 17. Dick Jauron got us to 7-9 for 3 straight years with terrible rosters so Marrone should be able to do more than one game better with the current one. We haven't beat anyone I would consider good except the Lions. I don't expects miracles but I'd like to win the game we're expected to win (Raiders) and win 1 of the 3 tough ones. That is on the coaches. They are predictable and run one of the most vanilla offenses in the league. If you can't get Sammy Watkins open you are literally doing it wrong. People are only going to this side because it would serve the Bills if he benched the stars. Remember the last time the Bills needed a win to get in and the team they played benched their starters? Teams that have benched their starters in week 17 haven't fared well. I remember all to well about the Bills/Pittsburgh game and it has nothign to do with the Bills. They are going nowhere. It has to do with it being a moronic decision for an otheriwse hall of fame genius coach to continually make. Obviously you can't bench all of your starters, but to play Brady and his already injury prone main weapon in Gronk would serve no purpose other than to risk unneccessary injury to both. For guys like Brady, Manning etc. do you really think a little extra rest matters at this point in their careers? Those guys don't miss a beat. You honestly think that was due to the time off? Manning lost a full year to injury and came out like a house on fire when he finally played again.
