I don't know if it deserves its own thread but Buffalo legend Lance Diamond has passed away.

I've never heard of him until now, but that's still sad to hear. Stuart Scott passed away too at 49 from cancer. RIP Stuart, the most creative highlight broadcaster to ever be heard.

Not related, but this song is great.

I'd say thread-worthy. Like so many others, I loved Lance.

Also, that is a great clip. Lance could rock with the best of them, but then, three days later, would show up and charm your grandma at a wedding reception. He was a unique talent.

Hey WildCard,

This is in my head and in my ears, coming from my speakers, right now ...

I've never heard that song by them, thanks for the link

I'm always impressed with how diverse the tunes from The Clash can get. I've had this song stuck in my head for a month now

Side note: I was working with a buddy when "Train in Vain" came on. He goes:

Guy: "Ah I love this song man, can't believe this came out so recently."

Me: "Recently? Haha what're you talking about?"

Guy: "The Beastie Boys man! This and 'Fight for your Right.' Favorite songs by them."

I spent 20 minutes, no lie, convincing this kid that The Beastie Boys didn't write "Train in Vain." Ended up winning a couple bucks from him

Did you ever hear the original of Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin?

Joe often said that he liked it even better than their version.

I had not heard that, thanks for the link!

I was worried it would be a faster version of the Clash's, I was relieved when it started with an even slower tempo. The singer's voice is great, but the beat reminds me too much of a reggae song and ruins it for me. The thing that gets me with the Clash's version is that base-line they have; makes that song go from good-great.

I think you might enjoy these guys, give'm a try and let me know what you think. No worries if they're not what you listen to

WIldCard,

I understand, but one can't help but notice that reggae had a great influence on The Clash.

Mick, Joe and Paul all said that it had a big influence on their music.  They have also said that their rebel stance was based, in part, on that of the Rasta movement.

They did a great tour with Mikey Dread ...

Rockers Galore has put this into my head (and speakers) now ...

UB40 was a great band ... right up until they sold their souls for a pop hit.
