The fiip side of accidental tanks is they're often due to either injury, severely aged rosters, or incompetent coaching.  At least 2 of which, if not all 3, can be cured by the time puck drops the 1st time next October.  Should this turn into an inadvertent tank, it has 2 of those as the root causes plus an incompetent GM.  

Get a competent GM, get competent coaching, and you likely "luck" into better health as well.  There are a lot of good pieces on this roster.  It isn't a full tear down at present, nor should there be a full teardown.  There should be an add to.

And tell Dahlin and Thompson they can expect to play out their contracts here in Buffalo; if they have the sads because of that they can get a puppy.  The Sabres no longer send very good to great players out the door simply because they've asked to do so or have driven their car through a Tim Horton's.  (Does anybody honestly think O'Reilly was traded because he l"ost his love for hockey" and not because he embarrassed the heck of the owners right after they gave him a huge contract?)

I have no hope to beat this juggernaut today.  It would take a miracle.  I only hope they keep it competitive. A moral victory would be progress lol.

First - Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all of our Sabres fans in Canada. 

This afternoons matinee is to get more kids in the crowd but since many schools do not observe Columbus Day/Indigenous People Day that may not be the best planning.   The good thing is that the Sabres wont interfere with me watching the Bills on MNF tonight. 

As for this team - they need to play 60 minutes if hockey and support the rookie in net.    The western conference teams travel a lot of miles and they strive to get a win on their first stop of a road trip.   Buffalo better be ready to play.   I don't care about injuries, a win today is mandatory.

Yes. And the PA guy also just doesn't have it. He kinda worked when the team was better, but he sounds so awkward when he tries to pump up the jam. I had to turn off the player intros on opening night.

You have to admit, it is kinda sad when your favorite team sucks the life out of you 2 games into a season.....I do not want a tank!!! We would just screw up some young good kids career until he asks for a trade.

(yes, some tough injuries to get around at the start of the season 1G (though, he's worse than the 2G historically), 1C (though... he's a 2C when healthy), 1LW (though, he's a 2/3LW at this point in his career), and D4 (though, he's only done that for a single season because of injuries, so he's a D6 at this point in his career)...  huh. When I say it like that it's like the injuries aren't even the problem.

That said!

This isn't a tank. They're within $3M of the cap. This is EEE. They can't even EEE correctly.

You're correct. 

I posted in a different thread earlier.. Or maybe this one, I'll buy back in when they have more points than games played and they have a positive goal differential. 

So even though you're correct, it's hard to be positive about this team in the current state, state and position. They are in two games in.. at least for now.

Thompson has approached 50 goals two of the last 3 years. Tuch has been north of 35 two of the last 3 years. 

It will be really nice to see one... Or both of them break through.

I get it on the holidays but as others have said... This isn't a holiday that many people have off for.

Quinn - crash the net. Take the puck and just crash the net with it and see what happens. Pretend you're Zucker.

Samuelsson -- line someone up at the blue line. You might miss. Get the audience to go woooo if you do, and for the Avs forward to look back over his shoulder and say, "whoa, was that Muel-PO?"   And if you hit, it'll be fun! You're heavier than anyone on their roster, even 40 year-old Brent Burns.

 

(Edit: Muel-PO probably shouldn't do that because the possibility of getting injured is approximately 3:1.)

I do. 

Taro, ROR smashed into a Tim Horton's in July 2015, before he ever wore the Sabres jersey in a game.   He played for the Sabres for three season and was traded in 2018 after his "lost his love for the game" speech at locker cleanout. 

The episode with smashing the truck was long over, he was very luckily acquitted of the charges in July 2016 when the only witness was unable to identify him. He publicly apologized and thanked the Sabres for supporting him.  It should have ended there and if ROR had more problem the team should have been helping him.  

Maybe Terry was still have been upset about the drunk driving, but he was also upset about what ROR said and insiders say he did not want to pay the bonus that was due. 

I expect that Terry knows that hockey players and football players are not choir boys, drug and alcohol abuse is a problem for many athletes and for many reasons.  He has to be aware of this.

Good lord. Two games in and you're already talking about next October?! Everything in your post could be done now and not have to waste a full season.

I never put the sound on until the puck is dropped, if at all.
