You do realize this happens every off season. They NEED to sign guys for the AHL.  And every off season, the same people act like complete rubes when it happens.

I understand, but need to vent somehow. 😂

Is Adams purposely trolling us? Wtf.

Yeah, this forum and Sabres fans everywhere are secretly part of a multi-year psychological study performed by the University of Phoenix.  Years from now we'll all feel better about how we demonstrated a professional hockey team can impact the mental health of a wide number of people over a prolonged period of time.

I mean, if the Bills can be in a Hallmark Christmas Movie.. why not?

Could be because they need to also sign competent NHL players too!

AHL 4th liner.

Adams with a big splash

I have gone to tons of Silver Knights game and trust me this guy will never be in the NHL. He will drop the gloves but he’s nothing more then an AHL player!

A couple of seasons ago he got 25 games in with NJD.  If Tage goes down hard and the response is weak, he might see an NHL rink again.

Im sure he’s past where an extended stay is in his future.

Every year we add the right kind of players…..for Roch!

why have never added this player to our nhl roster?!

To be fair, the AHL is still a little more old school with aging young vets trying to do anything they can to make an NHL roster and win games.  They tear through the skill guys like tissue paper.  Now they have Joshua and Geertsen.  Syracuse and Laval can ***** the ***** off.

That being said, if the Sabres would just bring in a couple of these guys to police the ice, the fans would melt. This franchise abandoned what the blue collar folks of WNY love.  Old fashion grit.  Hit, fight, stick up for teammates.  It’s not difficult to please the masses of WNY.  Bring the violence that western Canadian teams have in droves.  Also the Stanley Cup champs.

Put him on the 4th line.  If we’re a 79 point team again, may as well be entertaining!!

79 points and thats after they went on a heater at the end of the season. 😂

If Geertsen makes the Sabres roster for more than a handful of games as a callup this season*, then something is seriously wrong with the roster (beyond the other things that are wrong with the roster -- re: every other active thread on the 'Space).

*Like Lyon gets run and Muel does nothing and then next game they have Geertsen called up in a pointless display "we're going to be tougher now" and Geertsen has a fight in his first game, skates 5:00 each night for a few more, and then disappears back to the AHL as the team toughness is forgotten.

He's an AHL enforcer. The Amerks can use that. It's a good signing for them.

Following your scenario, bring him up to beat the snot out of Mule in practice after Lindy treats Mule like Luke Adam.

The Florida Panthers do what Buffalo has failed to do for years, pack mentality. Not some pugilist who you need to protect the frail and soft willed players like Samuelsson but a pack mentality where if Thompson gets run, no one waits to see what they should do or ask for their fighter buddy to handle it, nope you just drop gloves and start firing. Sabres haven't had that since Chris Drury got screwed and Drew Stafford didn't hesitate... see Miller Lucic.

In order to have a pack mentality, you need a pack.  I haven’t gotten the feeling these guys are a pack.  They are more like a flock looking for their shepherd. They needed to draft and develop guys with that mentality.  They didn’t for far too long. They have made some improvements but it still feels like they are leaning toward a skill lineup.  You need players that do have that pack mentality.  I don’t really see it with the current roster. Kesselring and Doan are a slight improvement in that direction but I still feel there are too many players like Quinn & Samuelsson, who play as if physical contact is a foreign concept.

I don't see any lead dogs on the roster, which I think is the chief problem in this area.

Guys I see who probably would run with the pack if we had it:

Dahlin, Kesselring, Thompson, Tuch, Zucker, Greenway, Danforth, Malenstyn, Doan, Krebs, Benson (edited to add)

Not sure how many more of those guys are necessary to create some sort of a critical mass when we don't have a pack leader. Adding a pack leader sure would help.

A pack mentality is what arises simply from the realization of the group that they are united in a common goal beyond themselves

this conversation, imo, is off the rails - what’s missing isnt a “pack leader” (what year is it?), nor do the Sabres randomly just “happen” to add a bunch of guys with no bite

what is happening, in actuality, is that we aren’t assembling a group of players who are uncharacteristically stupid: they can perceive and understand that the Buffalo Sabres aren’t committed to a real goal

How can the players lay down their hockey lives for a cause when the sabres don’t have a cause worth fighting for? You want them to lie down for Pegula’s yacht costs?

come on now, people, use your noggins on this one

All that culture stuff Adams talked about 5 years ago that everyone bought into? Hey it’s still there! It was real. They are just disingenuous frauds: they are literally the ones infiltrating the franchise and pumping that poor culture right to its veins

I’d add Benson to that list. He’s not a big dog, but he seems like a willing ankle biter.

There probably is something to this.  It’s the same as any workplace I suppose. If management isn’t fully committed, why the hell should the employees (players) express that level of commitment.

This is depressing…

Jesus I hope they don’t give Muel an “A” again next season.  I would like to think in a Florida locker room, he would have been pitchforked for not responding to the aid of a teammate.  By contrast in Buffalo, he get’s to keep a letter he never deserved in the first place (just like his contract).
