It’s from Eklund so put it as a total not happening but still fun to read:

”There are rumors out there right now that they are looking to trade for Bo Byram… the name that is bouncing around in the rumor mill is Byfield… doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but it’s out there…. Look fo LA to be aggressive because they really have pulled completely off of Marner.”

Could work for Buffalo as Byfield shoots left so could either be your #1 LW or #2 center (with Kulich your #1 LW).  Big hole at d would need to be addressed

Toddkaz? There were a few people who lived and died by it.

Byfield would be great but the kings just extended him last year so doesn’t make sense at all unless we give up a lot.

This is the last year you can take advantage of that LTIR loophole I think.

Most likely the case.  But it depends on whether they gave themselves any early termination provisions to the MOU version of the CBA that extended the 2012 CBA from September 2022 through September 2026.  The MOU didn't have any early termination provisions but have never seen a copy of the CBA itself as modified by the MOU.  The 2012 CBA did have early termination provisions (which have long been expired for the pre-MOU CBA); presumably there are none in the current CBA as it now stands, but as have never seen that version of the current CBA (and haven't seen the new one yet either) that is simply a presumption.

So, again, believe you are correct that the existing BF-LTIR loopholes that Vegas, TB, and others take advantage of will still be available through this coming season, but not 100% certain of it.  (Would put it about 98% likely.  😉 )

And teams will still be able to take advantage of BF-LTIR loopholes; there just will be more constraints which theoretically will limit just how much teams can try to abuse the system.

There's no way that rumor is true.  If Adams pulled that off I might have to start saying nice things about him.

LV was rumored to be one of the 8-10 teams interested in him. Not sure where their cap $ is coming from or what they could offer us??

Nah, they're just telling us who's money Marner will officially be getting.  (Though in reality, they'll both be getting Alex's cash.)

There is 0 chance this is true unless were throwing Benson and a prospect as well, I'd view Byfield as an almost untouchable for the Kings right now.

I love the Tavares deal for Toronto. This one I'm not so sure on.

Is there a chance Knies will be really, REALLY good? I guess. But over the playoffs, over the last season, the year before basically his entire career, I think he is a product of Matthews.

His numbers are worthy of close to $8m when playing with Matthews, if you look at his numbers, his production, his underlying metrics/analytics with not on the ice with Matthews, they are actually below average. Like he's kinda a bad player across the board without Matthews on the ice with him.

I linked and posted his metrics  with and without Mathews below (reg season and playoffs), but if you look at last year, they numbers are just as bad as this year.

Personally love the Knies deal, for all the reasons you mention.  It might work.  But there's a better chance it won't.  MHO.
