We haven’t chewed on the goalie question much; I think most people are uncomfortable with a Levi/Luukkonen combo, but expect that is exactly what they will do.

However, Jason Karmanos gave us a hint that may not be written in stone when he made a point of saying how Devon Levi can be stashed safely in Rochester without having to clear waivers

In his year-end Amerks presser, he (paraphrasing) said Levi starting next season in Rochester “is going to depend on what options are available to the Sabres.”

I read that to mean Levi in Buffalo may not be Plan A, and they are at least considering adding a goalie.

What does Sabrespace think should be the plan in net?

Unless the Sabres bring in another goalie to be our #1 goalie, or at least compete for it, whatever else is done to improve the roster will be wasted. A reasonable argument could be made that if the Sabres had consistent good (not exceptional) netminding last year, the Sabres could have made the playoffs. Counting on UPL and Levi to assume the role of our primary netminder next season is a recipe for another failed season.

I don't know who will be available in the trade market or free agent market. I would be very interested at the suggested of goalies who could be available, and the follow-up question is what is the cost? At least for me, addressing this position is our biggest priority.

Add a starting NHL goalie.  UPL is backup (or possibly traded) and then someone like Reimer is backup.  Keep Levi in Rochester and give him a few shots at the NHL to see where he is at.

Adams and goaltending has always been an issue for me.

Hear me out...

UFA  32 years old, 6'3". Experienced. .926 sv % last year in the NHL.

Louis Domingue. Sign him on July 1st to a 1-year $1.5M contract.

Get through camp and start the season with Luukkonen, Domingue, and Levi on the roster.

Then, waive Domingue.

Boom.

Playoffs, here we come.

This could work very well. Id be down for something like this. Cant expect it to be UPL/Levi

Best on the free agent market are probably Rittich, Samsonov, Georgiev, Vaneczek, and Vladar. Don't see any of those guys wanting to come here.

Next option is trade. Do you want to use assets like JJP, Byram( I would rather trade Power), Quinn , and Muel to try and bring a goalie in.

Past practice with this team I would bet it's UPL, Levi, and a guy like Reimer.

My choice would be Rittich or Samsonov with UPL backing up and Levi in Roch.

Or offer sheet Ottenger

Sign Reimer, it's only a million dollars and hopefully the other two play well enough so they don't have to turn to him.

Sure, try to trade, get in Free Agency or whatever, but that probably isn't happening.

Maybe UPL just couldn't handle all the work being number 1 and with more breaks he is better.

What should happen in goal?

Something else, that's for sure.

Personally I would add a goalie. One of the free agents (not Georgiev) or trade for somebody like Korpisalo. I know people will say he's crap or the FAs are crap and it doesn't matter. We need a veteran to take half the load and Levi has to bump a goalie out of a spot by playing well enough, not just be handed a spot.

We'll never know unless Sabres give him a shot. I pay zero attention to chatter.

He’s been given a shot. He wasn’t very good and got sent to Rochester. He’s been brought up and again didn’t look good so was sent back down.

Wild guess, they fire DeBoer and elevate Donskov.

He should be fired for that. Dallas was putrid bad, far from on the goalie
