... Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago If the Sabres are going to use a first round pick as part of a trade package this is the year to do it. The pick's placement and our "young core" make it eminently justifiable: if Adayms doesn't use it as a trade piece then that should be the last straw of the last straws. Quote
OverPowerYou Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago We need to draft young players that will eventually become complacent and frustrated so we can trade them to a playoff team 1 Quote

He's a fiesty chaos creator. That said I think we'll look elsewhere. Eklund isn't going to fit their profile impo. Quote

Just b/c you choose to ignore them does not mean they don’t exist. You mean like Karma? Then it had it out a lot of teams. All but two teams had their pick made worse. Quote

He's closer to 170 now but that doesn't really matter to your og point. It's possible they draft him at 9 but I personally feel that they'll lean in other directions. Quote

Islanders STH's en mass called their reps at the end of the season and told them either Lou goes or they go, which is the main reason Lou got fired. They earned this. Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Late to the discussion. Makes more sense to me to trade the pick. At this time we need more proven NHL players (upgrades) than we do prospects. Quote

GoPuckYourself Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago To me this shows it isn't rigged, why in the world would the NHL want the Islanders to win for any reasoning? Quote
sabremike Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago 2 minutes ago, PromoTheRobot said: Sure. Okay. The owner (whose mall at the UBS site is failing badly btw) started shitting bricks when he saw the renewal numbers, which is the reason he sacked Lou. This is pretty much common knowledge. Quote

The theory is the league did it as a make good for hosing them out of the ASG (which the team used access to as a renewal incentive BTW). (Yes I know it's total nonsense). Quote

I wasn't suggesting jumping way down but if some team around 12 desperately wants one of the D men that are ranked around 9-10 maybe you can do that. I'd be fine with taking him at 9. I like him a lot as a future NHL player. When the Bruins looked like a picking 12-15 type team I suggested Bear there. Cause he's good, and well, "Bear" on the Bruins, you can't get better than that. Now that they are where they are taking Bear would be strange. Sabres on the other hand don't have to get the analytical BPA they can weigh things towards character and type and make the move. I am sure whoever gets him will have made a good pick. Quote
shrader Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Did Utah jump a full 10 spots by winning the second drawing or did they jump 9? It feels strange that the prize for them would be identical whether they win the first or the second drawing. And actually, this has me wondering about a different scenario. What if it had been reversed, Utah wins the first drawing and the Islanders the second. Does NYI wind up with 1 overall in that scenario? Quote

For example, I value Bear and Martin more than O'Brien even though the latter might score more nhl points. To your point on defenders, I think 2 will go top 8. I just don't believe we'll see 7 forwards taken after Schaefer. Quote
