In basically one off-season, NE all but caught up to the Bills and have the better coaching staff. Another offseason and the Bills could be the 2nd best team in the division. Beane is wasting a hall of fame QBs career. This isn’t just because of one bad game, but we own the record for the first QB with the stats he has, to never make it to the SB. Unprecedented. Our window was the .13 second game. That should have been our year. The rest has been rinse and repeats of the same thing. Any objective fan can see the gaping flaws in both the roster and the coaching. Mediocre defense and WR’s. Allen has just covered up these things because he’s THAT GOOD. Our FO has not made good enough decisions to get us over the hump. Just the facts.

Last night's game is a pretty good microcosm of one of the big reasons I'm not a fan of the bills as much as I used to be.

Almost anything other than a blowout victory is a disappointment. A loss to a team you were favored by as much as you were last night... Especially at home.. is a major, major downer for most fans and the community.

I have always thought for a long time there are two ways to enjoy any season as a fan of any sport... To win the championship... Or to exceed expectations.

Expectations are so high with this football team, for the season and week by week... That most games are going to lead to some kind of disappointment. It's just not as fun as seeing a lesser team work its way up the ladder.

For me, the best years as a fan are those years where the bad team starts to show signs of Life.... Rather than when you have a top five team in the league, just bumping its head against the ceiling.

I realize everyone doesn't view it the same way, but for me.. That's a large part of it.

This is more of a personal problem than anything with the team TBH.  It's just one loss in a sport where anything can and does happen.

Wonder where people went from just being a fan of a team to letting it ruin their day. You cannot effect the game in anyway and do not get paid to play it... don't let it ruin you.

I’m not usually complain about refs guy but Shawn Hochuli has it in for the Bills. Every time he calls their games, the Bills are always the more penalized team.  I look for a flag after any positive Buffalo play.

there's no doubting it. i can't look now, but someone once compiled data to establish it as fact.

it's also possible that his crews just penalize the ever loving sh1t out of most teams. just overly active. (there were at least 3 Bills penalties last night where I was left befuddled.)

that f**ker hochuli made me boiling mad with that offside call last night -- when he said "that penalty is declined because [smirk] the result of the play [smiling and signaling] is a touchdown."

He never misses an opportunity to flex on national TV.

My biggest problem is now they’ll forever be associated with “the Diggs game”.  Blech.

The Bills really need better receivers.

Yes. I would not be surprised if they even contributed to how poorly the Bills played. Jarring. Dumb.

I don't know about that, but they were just hideous.

Not sure why the NFL wants them to wear another team's uniforms, I mean,... other than the enormous money grab from all the suckers that bought one.

The largetst part of being a fan for me is the social aspect of it. If a team played, but there was no one to talk to about the game, no sports radio, no pre and post game show. No highlights. No stadium or arena to be part of the cheering crows.  If it was just the game and nothing else, not even a message board like this, then that would reduce the fun of being a fan for many of us.

With that said, it is the REACTION(s) of all those other people in the social aspect that impacts my enjoyment of rooting for a particular team that was the genesis of my prior post.

He's his dad's kid, for sure.

Ed was a tool.  Shawn is a tool on steroids.  (Though it's likely dad did more of them than sonny boy.)

They both are under the misguided impression that the people in the stands and watching on TV are there to watch THEM do their jobs.  No, actually we prefer it when the refs are essentially invisible.

But as bad as Hochuli and crew were; they didn't cause Knox to mistime his shift; they didn't cause Coleman to fumble the ball; they didn't cause Allen to Brett Favre that ball into a non-existant window; and they didn't decide Tre White could cover Diggs without any help as often as he was given that assignment.

Stinks that they lost this one; but the Cheats will lose a couple more they shouldn't; the Crows and the Bungles are both essentially dead men walking; SD is still SD; and KC has a killer schedule.  The Bills get the AFC North in the year that some teams are emerging in the South and West and they get the NFC South in a year that except for TB they all look like the Fishies.

Injuries let them luck into a better PK and better P than they started the year with.

Find a way to get past Atlanta next Monday.  Get Hoecht and the other suspended guy back; get Oliver healthy; and get to it.   They still control their own destiny.

So NFL decision? Seriously, it has to be tough on the quarterback especially.

Yeah, this is all very true. And at least 5, possibly 6, of the 11 (?) accepted penalties were clear cut penalties.

I'm still in disbelief over what Diggs did last night. ~8 months removed from an ACL tear. On the wrong side of 30. Jeepers.

When he's motivated, he can still be a world beater.  Problem is, he wasn't motivated his last year at least (and arguably last 2 years) in Buffalo and he won't likely be motivated to this degree again often in Cheatland.

When he isn't motivated, he's a huge distraction.  Looking forward to Maye, McCown, or Vrabel looking at him crossways one time and him going back into pouty mode.  (The sooner, the better.  😉 )

Bad game and it needs to be put away.

The refs seemed to target the Bills and the calls were certainly not consistent but the Bills panicked at the very end and they failed to make the key plays need to win and run time of the clock.

Just look at the last offensive drive  - it ended with a Shakir drop followed by two broken plays with no one open, there is a cry for DPI on Shakir but no replays to verify what happened.  We settled for 3 with lots of time for the Pats*.    The last defensive series started with a missed sack, mostly due to the fantastic play by Maye, but a sack changes everything.   After that play the defense failed to hold the tie and get the ball back in Allen's hands.

If this game showed me anything it confirmed that the WRs and the secondary are just mediocre.   We already knew this going into the season.

Bills may have faired better with rookies Hairston or Dorian Strong,  or maybe even J'Marcus Ingram.   Too many times Diggs was matched up with Tre White and the results were not good.

Look, the Cheats played their absolute best possible game.  100 on a scale of 100.

The Bills did not, and no team in any sport ever does play at 100 for every single game.  Bills were 65 at best out of 100.

If the Cheats at 100 can barely beat the Bills at 65, I'm ok.

And those uniforms are NCAA D-III garbage.
