Is there a "U" somewhere in the logo?

Full disclosure on the question.  It took me many decades, like 4,  to realize that that original Canucks logo, the rink and stick, had a C in it.

I guess you could say the tusk forms a U?

From the NJ Devils

The New Jersey Devils today announced that the team will not renew the contracts of Assistant Coaches Ryan McGill and Chris Taylor.

Additionally, the contracts of Head Video Coach Jerry Dineen and Utica Comets Assistant Coach David Cunniff also will not be renewed.

The search has begun for replacements.

The more I look at this, more I don’t like it. It’s mushy. Nothing stands out.

It’s pretty bad.

The mountains, the glaciers, the U, and the M are about the only things that stand out.  Guess the eye might be a flint arrow head from somebody hunting the mammoth.  They should've put a tiny sasquatch in one of the features to mess with Yeti.  (Oh, yeah, won't let us use the trademark in a different field, well, #### you, we're gonna mess with Big Foot (and screw with Jack Links too, just because we can).

And you’d think that a relationship between yeti and the NHL would be a match made in heaven.

The NHL suspended Florida Panthers minority owner Douglas Cifu following comments he made Sunday on social media.

Cifu posted the offending messages on X during a spat with a Maple Leafs fan after the Panthers defeated Toronto in Game 4 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series. The fan opened the back-and-forth by commenting on several high hits by Panthers players against the Maple Leafs and then invoked the Israel-Gaza war. Cifu had displayed five Israeli flags in the bio of his X account.

“Hey what’s worse, using headshots to win a series or using starvation as a weapon to win a war?” the user wrote.

In response, Cifu called the Toronto fan a “whiny dope,” later posting, “Eat s--- 51st state anti semite loser,” an apparent reference to President Donald Trump’s comments in recent months that he wants to see the United States add Canada as its 51st state.

The posts were deleted soon after, and Cifu’s X account has been deactivated. The NHL on Monday suspended Cifu from any involvement with the team or the league.

“The NHL has concluded that Mr. Cifu’s X posts were unacceptable and inappropriate,” the NHL said in a statement, which was first reported by the Toronto Sun. “As a result, Mr. Cifu has been suspended indefinitely from any involvement with the Club and the NHL. An in-person meeting will be scheduled with Mr. Cifu and the Commissioner at a date to be determined.”

Feels like overkill in the response of the NHL if that's all was said. Stupid, but not nowhere near a racist tirade or something of the like. Suspend him but give a time table. Otherwise it comes across as a threat to his name on the Stanley Cup which would honestly be a grave injustice to remove based on precedent. That being said, owners shouldn't have official Twitter accounts; its just asking for trouble.

Yup, two idiots yammering at each other have just as much right to free speech as anyone else

The beer's good, Punch, but where's the C? Dodo even got you new readers at Rexall*.

*Stoner didn't, but PA does his research.

I am always willing to teach you the gospel according to Punch.

Look at the outer rim of the hockey rink, the trim in green.  The hockey stick (white) makes a break in the green outer rim.  That makes the C.

Good to have PA back to his fact-checking.   Stoner lacked this same energy and wit.

Looks like the Canucks are going to name Adam Foote as their new coach.

Was a Tocchet assistant.

The were talking about this on the fan hockey show. Led into talk about Pettersson, and the Canucks looking to deal him. Mentioned buffalo as a potential landing spot but they were saying the ship probably sailed for them w/the cozens deal ie Vancouver would trade EP for Cozens but Norris wouldn’t be enough, mainly due to injury concerns

Out here they talk about Norris being more attractive because he’s Quinn Hughes’ buddy.

All Canuck talk is filtered through “we can’t let Hughes walk when he gets to UFA”. They’re deathly afraid he will be joining his brothers in New Jersey.

People already saying only reason Foote was hired is because Hughes likes him.

Assuming Norris is healthy, how good is he? Is he a legitimate 2C with some individual scoring potential.

No reason to assume that

in the hypothetical world where he plays 75 games? Sure he’s a legit 2C

Ya I didn’t catch the player but they mentioned they had another C with injury concerns which is why Norris would be dicey for them specifically

That be Chytil, the guy they got in the JT Miller trade.

Looks like Tocchet is in fact going to Philly as well. Obvious fit there and kind of expected. Right man at the right time. He will look like a softy compared to Torts so it could work well.

Foote in Vancouver surprises me. Is he a cheap sacrificial lamb like Granato was? Rebuild tear down coming? Hughes to NJ? Petersson to ??? (Buffalo?) . Hard to say. Does Adam Foote do "party tricks" too or did his son learn that on his own? (too soon?) Seems like an odd hire regardless.

One guy Sabres should look at if possible (but they won't) is Brad Shaw as a new assistant. If he's pissed that Philly passed him over for Tocchet he'd be a great guy to bring onto the staff. He's the guy credited by Philly fans with fixing Risto and improving Drysdale. He'd be a really good hire to work with Power and maybe even fix Samuelsson. Maybe he's fine to stay in Philly though. No idea. Just a thought. We need a good assistant to work closely with the D regardless.

Sturm looking like a leading candidate in Boston. No idea what Seattle's doing. Woodcroft? Or is JBot talking to Kreuger about a comeback?
