GDT November 30th Sabres @ Blues 8pm MSG, ESPN+

HOUSE

Recommended Posts

The Buffalo Sabres face the St. Louis Blues with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Sabres have a 10-10-2 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the Blues have an 11-9-1 record and are in fourth place in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to make up ground in the standings and the upcoming game should be a good one.

Sabres are 6th in their division with 22pts, the Blues are 4th in their division with 23pts. The difference between the Sabres being 6th and 3rd, 3pts.

JJ Peterka to the nearest blue and gold courtesy phone, JJ Peterka to the nearest courtesy phone please...

Interesting.  The team that's been within 2 games of 0.500 the entire season is the team that is closest to the dead center of that chart.  Shocking.  😀

But, yeah, this would seem to be the night they definitely don't want to give up that early 1:35 into the game goal that they seem so fond of giving up.  Get the big saves early from UPL, let the Mittelstadt line get the Blues back on their heels, and then let Peterka from the other line or Tuch from that line get the dagger 1st goal.

Who wants more than one win in a row? This guy!

Dear Mustache god,  why do my favorite players insist on the stache? IMO most stache's look cheesy, present Swedish chef (that is how I see you at least) diety excluded.

BTW, worst offender in NHL is in TOR.....

There's a direct correlation of looking like a 70's porn star and scoring goals...scoring begets scoring.

Take Alex Tuch for example, started the season 'stache-less and he sucked complete ass. Now that he's got some serious face-lace he's filling up all sorts of nets.

So you’re saying I should shave the beard and trim my stache before beer league tonight?

After an exhausting analysis on your predictions here on my proprietary mapping wall,  @Buffalonill, you are running at a .454 pace. I ran out of red yarn, so had to make some "assumptions".  But it 'feels right" when you look at it long enough.

So @Mustache of God I can only continue to look for your guidance hope to understand your wisdom someday.

The Blues have not much on their roster that is scary. Sure, they have a better record than the Sabres, but this is the team that only beats you if you make mistakes, if you control the game vs them you win.

No ultra high end talent, zero guys even bordering on elite.  The reason they win any games at all is they have an  somewhat above average, veteran D-unit that rarely makes mistakes and is backed up by forwards who are always fresh because they roll lines, and have decent (slightly above average) goaltending.

This might be the definition of a team that does not beat you, you only 'lose' to them when you don't play your game and you make mistakes.

No ROR no TNT, the game won’t feel the same.

Sabres need to win and show the dominate effort at NY wasn’t a fluke. Time for this team to step up.

So, not to bring up bad memories, but last time (Feb 21, '23) ROR was in town with the despised queefs of TOR, he got a hattie with 2 G in :37. ROR will make a return for the Sun Matinee v Preds. Let's ensure he doesn't get another...Going into tonight, he has 10 G, 9 A in 21 games.

Per John Wawrow of the AP in his game summary 2/21/23: "Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed four goals on 10 shots before being yanked after getting beaten on the short side by Bunting 12:09 in. Struggling in his bid to win a three-way goalie competition...."

I post this history, so we are not doomed to repeat itself.

You are welcome.

Daily face off is predicting UPL vs Binnington.

I’d like to see someone like Skinner get a greasy goal and throw Binnington into a hissy fit.

The Sabres we love show up tonight and start a winning streak. Their roller coaster season will start to flatten out. I’m not expecting 100% effort (85% league) for the next 50+ games but more consistency.

Let’s go Buffalo!
