I was on the fence because of his defensive play and whether he can actually play again at a valuable level. I hope the Sabres FO remembers this over the summer and doesn’t sign him. He would have been a good depth piece to add this year to help on the PP and add some experience, but there should be better players available over the summer. Had he signed with Buffalo, that would have sold a few more tickets, but I would prefer to see a more physical forward in his prime. Yeah, mixed feelings here too. Would have been somewhat comforting to hear that he had some sort of tryout with the team to evaluate his skating, and he chose elsewhere because of our spot in the standings. He would absolutely crack the top 6 if he comes anywhere close to what he use to play like.
