Is my sarcasm detector broken, or...

I just woke up and am mad at sports. I do sense Botterill has whiffed hard this offseason. If he trades Risto and doesn’t get an undeniable NHL forward he’s failed.

Vesey can play either wing. So can Nylander.

And Olofsson.

Needs to be a bonafide 2C, full stop.

Rangers deal Vesey to Buf so they can free up cap space to sign Panarin

While Buffalo signs Vesey to upgrade their middle forwards

A Tale of 2 Cities

I think he's shown before that he can, even if that isn't where they've had him lately.

Knicks fan, eh? 😜

I think we pretty much all agree that if Botterill doesn't bring in a legit 2C, at least, he's whiffed hard. But let's see him whiff before spazzing.

This was a waste of a third, no matter how bad a third projects to be.

He had 17 goals last year. That would make him, if I am remembering correctly, the fourth highest goal scorer on the team right now. This might be a very good one year move. We need scoring, here is a little more scoring

But it's not lately. He's always played LW

If Krueger can coach then we will see a serious uptick even if we don't bring in another player. Krueger is the real difference maker for this year IMO. If he is just marginally better than Phil then that could put us in playoff conversation

I truly prefer Botterill sit back and let the 1st few days of FA playout... But the reality is any real significant player will come back via trade and that can happen 2 - 4 months  or even the trade dead line...

Two words: goal differential.

Is Nylander a LW or a RW?

Is the correct answer "neither?"

Ya, eliteprospects has him listed as a LW and RW and I trust that site, I also specifically remember it being mentioned he's played the right side at some point in the past.

This team can really use goal scoring period, whether 2nd, 3rd or 4th line.  Spending a 3rd round pick is a modest investment (Rangers were probably wanting more originally, but now they want Panarin so they cut loose Vesey to create more cap space).  Vesey will want to test the market again as a UFA, so he will be motivated to have a career year.  Buffalo can then maybe recoup the 3rd back from a team looking to add a rental at the trade deadline.

I think this is a good value move.

Oh no! Are we already sellers at the trade deadline?!?

Might as well be bait; hasn't shown signs of being a keeper, yet.

Nah I stopped rooting for the Knicks a while ago. I’m a Raptors fan so my NBA belly is satisfied.

Mainly just annoyed that we actually pulled the trigger on Vesey and that Panarin is with the Rangers.

Our number 2 was just drafted and no way Risto brings back a number 2 in a trade. Our true number 2 will be here next Summer....

It doesn't matter, Botterill can't fail to make an addition in this regard.

Even if Cozens is in the NHL in 2020, he won't be ready for 2C duties right away.

Bottom six will change, a top 6 winger will be traded for, and then we pray for better goaltending this year. This is all I expect for the offseason.

Then it's a big fail for Botterill.

Messing up our 2C space by trading ROR and inadequately addressing it last off-season and during the year, then, especially, doubling down on it again would be a mistake.

I agree but our #2 Center is going to be a veteran FA bandaid

We are in desperate need for players that can put up 35 points.  This is a good trade.
