He's not signed to a Sabres contract.  He's got a contract with the Amerks.  They'd have to sign him first.  I have no idea if they are at their limit of 50 contracts already.

Meh.  If they want him they'll bring him somehow.  And personally I think the rink could use his energy.  The fans will light up when he hits the ice and with a couple of big hits they'll love him all over again.

I feel like this will never die, reason being that who knows who Murray would have drafted with that pick, the "mystery box allurement" will remain indefinitely as there's always a chance that a pick turns into a good player. There may be a player drafted around the spot of the pick that has a substantial NHL career. But would that have been the player Murray selected? It was only ever a chance that the player he did select turned into an NHL player, and more likely that the player didn't, never mind a good one. It was a what, 25% chance at an NHL mainstay? Personally, I couldn't care less at this point, no matter what happens with Lehner. It was worth the risk.

I think it's more like 40% around there, but you're right. The negatives will say GMTM could have picked the next Getzlaf with that pick, but it's just as likely the pick turns out to be David Fischer. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Fischer_%28ice_hockey%29)

Looks like the O'Reilly factor is in full effect

@BuffaloSabres  Jan 6

Several Sabres stick around for extra work post-practice. O'Reilly leading drills. #9, #15, #23, #26, #88 still here

So, rather than pulling McGinn off Eichel's wing for Moulson, the players are looking to bump Girgensons for him? Interesting.

So I understand that Lehner let in three quick ones last night.  Uh oh.

A few reporters at the game said at least two of the four he let in were unstoppable whacky bounces... Can't really tell a ton from the highlights with no replays except on the first one. First game back after a long-term injury.

TIL that Tops sponsors the Amerks blue line, which is probably about as useful as Pepsi trying to sponsor the Atlanta Braves.
