Sabres HARBORcenter updates

The Buffalo Iron Works opened on Illinois St. It's the first social establishment on that street next to the FNC parking garage, which happens to be cobblestone-paved. Most of what is on Illinois is rundown industrial space now. We are on our way to an entire Cobblestone entertainment district, something to rival and maybe surpass Chippewa, as a city destination. When Canalside is fully completed, and the Harbor Center, the Seneca Casino, the hotels, the nightlife on Mississippi and Illinois, Buffalo will finally have something that would impress visitors. And it will make it easier to bid for events because people will have all the entertainment they need within a few square blocks of the FNC. This is the Pegula effect in action.

And the players on the ice look like they were cut and pasted from an old rod hockey game:

I have one very similar to this, same players except the puck doesn't have the bearing through it and no bumpers/guides to redirect the puck along the boards

Takes 2 D-size Batteries (or maybe C, can't remember) to run goal lights at each end of the rink when they enter the net

Only problems with it are the plastic nets have a few cracks/brakes in them, and the original plastic 'glass' around the ends of the boards was broken in a bunch of pieces so my dad made new plexi-glass ones to go on the ends

That picture brought back memories for me as well. Mine had logos for the Colorado Rockies and Cleveland Barons on the boards. No idea where that thing is now.

I checked Amazon to get one to play with my kids. The guys are 3d now and the one they have with the Sabres appears to be the slug jersey  . Sizzle you should demand commission when I pull the trigger.

When I was a kid, we had an even earlier version, it may have been my Dad's. Same metal player cut-outs, no batteries or lights, and the guides along the boards where metal and not plastic.

Mine didn't even have the guides. It was original 6, with the teams printed on the side

It had a metal score board that attached on each side and hung over centre ice with plastic slides for the score and a fake clock with movable plastic hand. Just below the core board was this metal thing that the puck with a small magnet inside would attach to, and when you were ready for the faceoff one person would hit a tab on the side of the metal thing and it would drop the puck

My grandfather gave it to me when I was a kid, it was my dads old game from when he was a kid. Still have it in my moms basement, its in its original box thats in not bad shape for its age.

And I liked how the artist's rendering of the arena has fans going apeshit over play at center ice.

While both teams have too many men on the ice. With two guys in the box for each team serving non-coincidental penalties, there are still four skaters per side, at least.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out how you knew about the guys in the box. I'm counting guys left on the bench etc.

Scoreboard. Derp.

I used to have play these board hockey games in the mid to late 70s. My brother and I would wear one out by the next Christmas. The players would be taped, the net would be glued down, the springs would be shot. We played on the floor in the TV room and behind us there was a floor furnace. If the puck ever made its way into the furnace, it was trouble. You could get it out, but at risk of third degree burns (or first, whatever is worse). The greatest saves I ever saw involved one of us sprawling across that dead of winter hellfire grate to swat away a puck that was dancing along the metal, about to drop into the abyss. Good times.

I like the sound of this. Now, if Pegula can address the roughly quarter million jobs (most middle class manufacturing jobs) that have drained from the area since the early 70's, I'd really be impressed.
