I think it's related to the arena not being in Phoenix. The Glendale Council probably gets a little bit of an inferiority complex about that. I get the inclusivity of Arizona vs Phoenix and I'm aware the team plays in Glendale, but I don't see the point in changing the name now. Even if it was an attempt to sell new merchandise next year, I think they'd be better off modifying the jersey than changing the name. Phoenix is appropriate from a metaphorical (if not geographical) standpoint, and it's hardly as egregious as the "New York" Giants and Jets. The whole purpose of the thread is to combine news, etc to a generalized category such as this thread. Things are slow news, etc wise right now that the number of threads is small and easy for users to read.
