As much disdain as I have for the current version of the Sabres, my brain won’t let me root against them.  I have too much emotional equity invested into the team.  The countless hours, day and months I’ve spent watching, following the team.  I mean, it’s the reason Sabrespace exists.  For us losers who can’t absorb enough Sabres content.  I don’t care if I’m talking to some pantless weirdo who wants to see Terry Pegula write letters. Give me all of it!!

That is the best case scenario for me.  If they win by multiple goals AND control play, I'll at least have a shred of hope again they have a chance of turning this around quick.

I voted to lose because I want Adams out now, but then I pause and think: What will losing do when the owner is someone we cant trust that will put the necessary resources back into the organization, and get a sharp Team Prez/GM and hire the right coach, and spend to the cap? I don't see it, so wouldn't it be more of the same?

I'm hoping for a win tonight.  They're only 6 points out of a playoff spot!  (or something like that)

I'm not optimistic and the season could not have started any worse than it has, but there's still plenty of time to turn things around.  While I don't think it will happen, why not start with a good effort and win tonight, then focus on the next game?

Injuries are not an excuse for uninspired play, but I know the team has a lot of injuries to key players and it looks like some are coming back soon.  I have not seen much of the first 3 games, so I'm not in a great position to assess how good or bad the effort has been, although, from what I've read, they've played 2 solid periods of out 9 so far.

As a person who played sports all throughout my childhood (never at a professional level) I'm very competetive and have been on the winning culture and losing culture and I can tell you the losing culture sucks. I can never root for purposely losing just to possibly get a player but there's nothing wrong with believing my team isn't good enough to be a playoff team therefore they might just be bad enough to land a once in a generation type of player all by themselves and not ever have to root for it. 😀

This basically is the best words I can find for a terribly difficult to describe situation. I always do my utmost to be candid because I respect the fans but particularly those posting here, so much. Many of whom I consider friends. Online friends, whatever, what’s the difference in 2025. There’s no point in lying, or in lying to oneself, and being honest even now hopefully only has the added effect of supporting the fact my opinions in the past have always come from a place of honesty. Rooting against the sabres (in support of their long term success) in 2015 was a mistake, and it was poison - even if it was in the name of long term benefit, of wanting the best for the team.

It would be a defeatist fools errand to root against the team again. When rooting for them is an impossibility under the current regime, it only leaves one option, no matter how improbably difficult: distance.

Adams isn't getting extended. He'll be let go at the end of the year or moved up or whatever.

It's hilarious how fast Sabres twitter has gone over positive with one game. Sabres did this last year and before as well. Remember when they bombed Toronto. If you give them open ice they soar. Ottawa played open (as they seem to fall into every time we play them) and thus got bombed. Most teams won't play that way. 

Best tweet I saw was "looks like Sabres are playing against the Sabres tonight" because yes, Ottawa played that style.

The Otters were literally playing like the Sabres, going so far as to add to their repertoire that stupid 80' dropback pass on the PP on about their 3rd PP.

I really think Ottawas goalie had the worst goaltending performance I have ever seen in a real NHL game.
