It says something very concerning about his overall durability. He is a good player, he is skilled, and he doesn’t play a shy or timid game. I saw him run someone and I saw him retaliate on a hit. It’s just bizarre that he has these issues. It is bizarre and unfortunate because he is a pretty damn good player. But the guy has played 5 full NHL seasons and is best known for being injury prone. On a team like this, that needs A LOT to go right to get over the playoff hump, counting on a guy like that is foolish at best and abjectly incompetent at worst. That trade should have never been made and I don't think a competent GM does it. Edited 6 hours ago by HumanSlinky39 3 Quote

During the season I'm sure they'll get a bit of flak when someone says "oh, yeah, we missed Barkov, he's one of the best" when a team reporter asks them a leading question "Normally you'd rely on Barkov in that situation... probably missed him today, huh?" So you've already moved on from the Sabres and your team is Florida? Smart move. 6 hours ago, PotentPowerPlay21 said: What's the old saying, "The best ability is availability." Josh Norris had a clear, well known medical and injury history. The genius GM with an internet Master's degree with no prior experience as a GM decided this was a good deal for the Sabres. Yikes! Kevyn Adams might be a nice guy, but he is entirely unqualified to be a GM and his record proves it. No opinion, just fact! It's kind of obvious his plan was more interested in getting rid of Cozens than adding. Norris was the best available likely and so he decided to gamble on him (and his health). Dumb plan. Quote

As Zucker has said, “hope” is not a plan. Kevyn hoped Norris would stay healthy. Kevyn hoped a goalie would emerge from the bowl of spaghetti. Kevyn hoped his defense would be better. Kevyn hoped his coaching staff would magically become effective. Kevyn hoped Quinn, Doan and others would replace JJP’s lost production. How has that worked out? 1 Quote
JoeSchmoe Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago There was so much hype about how this was going to be the first summer ever where he could actually train and not just be rehabbing. He was our only real hope in replacing Peterkas offense. Unlike the last two years, I was actually kind of excited about this season... still skeptical on goaltending, but excited to watch some good hockey. Now, unless this is just a freak minor thing (unrelated to his past injuries) I think we're for sure worse this year than last. 😞 Quote

In the history of this sport, how many people have been injured taking a draw without getting touched? This has to be one of the most fragile human beings to ever put on a pair of skates. The Tua of hockey. I wouldn't disparage Tua this guy literally was like I am healthy now and ready to go! 2 periods later he is done for weeks like you can't make this sh#t up Quote

It’s just bizarre that he has these issues. It’s odd and makes me wonder about predisposition (similar injury to last year) or strength and conditioning issues (the team overall)—the latter being really concerning because it extends beyond Norris. As my doctor explained to me for my situation, I had gone to the gym that morning, came home, and was outside moving logs and bags of animal feed around. I over worked myself without realizing it (granted, I’m mid-30s and certainly not an elite athlete so it doesn’t take much). I was just sore and I ignored it like a normal person. Anyway, I took a break for lunch and while cooking onions I sneezed. The sudden contraction of the muscles while sneezing caused the damage and it was sufficient to double me over. I could not stand up at all. I was basically immobilized. It was crazy. Is it the same/similar situation for him where the twisting motion from the face off brought him to his knees because he was overworked? No clue. But if it is, I should point out it was also entirely preventable when it happened to me and I should have known better. A professional athlete with access to team trainers, doctors, nutritionists—you name it—should absolutely know better. It’s very strange. Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Just theoretically. IF (big if) Norris was traded I think we would still get a top six forward. Just not a center. Maybe even off load Muel in the deal somehow. Benson Thompson New Guy Zucker Kulich Tuch Won’t happen. Just a hypothetical to have fun with the situation. Quote

I'd trade Norris to any team who took his entire contract for a fringe prospect at this point. I didn't understand the trade last year, and I still don't understand it this year. All the "well if he stays healthy, it's a huge upgrade", is pure speculation. The results speak for themselves, Norris is not a clubhouse cancer, or a malcontent, but he's not a player who stays healthy. Get this sinking ship out of Buffalo ASAP. Quote
