I wish I could suck so badly and my job and fail upwards. I had a job about 15 years ago where my immediate supervisor was awful. She would do things against company policy, and treated people so badly that she had customers (corporate customers, not individual people at a store) complain to the company about her. She called in sick beyond her allotted days. She was a recent graduate of college (in her 20's) with a business degree. After the 3rd time a customer complained about her, and said she was not allowed at their location anymore, she was promoted. 1 Quote
Rip Titwide Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 To add insult to injury concerning Mair, how about being replaced by "a joke of a player" Anyone remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqzOtW4zpBc Quote

Some get moved into office jobs to improve safety, productivity and morale. Quote

Failing upwards Almost like the Peter Principle, except this one WASN'T competent at their previous position 🤮 sooooooo, this is an even worse scenario What a time to be alive.... Quote
Eli Cash Posted September 25 Report Posted September 25 (edited) With no real rational basis for thinking this is a good or meaningful hire, I am a fan of the team adding someone from outside the organization who is likely to recoil at a culture that appears to embrace a passive approach to the game. Adams and Terry cooked up this tryout idea. Adams rides out the season and Kekalainen takes over in May 2026. Yes please, someone who has taken risks when needed and a career as a GM. Quote

I mean why now and not before? 22 hours ago, Taro T said: Umm, do they perhaps know something about Adam Mair's status that hasn't been made public yet? That's one possibility. The translated article quotes Ruutu: “I was contacted by Buffalo a couple of weeks ago, and that's really where it all started,” So it seems that this the may have been in the works earlier than a Ruutu announcement might imply. Mair was arrested on 9/4 and the new broke around here with Mair's suspension on 9/11. Edited September 25 by Dex 1 Quote

To me that fits with the brass meeting the day after to figure out what to do, and Jarmo saying "I know a guy". 1 1 Quote

This is 1000% the case. I’m very adept at my job. I just received a sizable bonus and raise because of my work performance. I have been passed over twice for the job a level above mine because I don’t always play nice. I’m definitely viewed as a gruff callus individual at work. I look like I eat babies for lunch. So, when a cute little old lady is up against me for the coveted position, they take grandma Betty over serial killer looking inky. Honestly, I never in a billion years pictured I’ve have the job I have let alone in position to be promoted yet again. But here I am, neck tattoos, substance abuse problems be damned, I understand why the company went in a different direction. I don’t kiss ass. I’m incapable of it. I hold a large amount of disdain for the “suits” upstairs. They know it and don’t want to include me in their reindeer games. I’ve accepted this is likely where I’m going to max out. I’m good with it. I make good money and enjoy my job thoroughly. 3 1 Quote

He cannot get a permanent supervisor position because he is a white male and they are trying to diversify their company. He gets passed over and then is asked to “mentor” the new boss. Some of these new bosses have 2-3 years of experience. Quote
