They were inspired, particularly Party in the USA (which was fun to hear on the road that season during breaks in play --- they're wishing for Skinner to score on them!). Shoutout to Olofsson, too, for ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme. 

It's such a break from the "Grrr, make it louder. Yell into the PA that we're on the powerplay" of the rest of sports presentations these days, etc. Just have a singalong danceable frolic that everyone has heard. Now, if it's for everyone on the team and every goal, it probably gets obnoxious. But no worse than a Chelsea Danger.

I was going for the reactions.  As usual, it landed like a helicopter without power.

You can’t just create 38 years of tradition. It wasn’t hokey when they first used it. The difference is that the swords song is hokey now, the time point where you want to start using it. 
 

And I don’t know if it’s just the clip they used, but the audio quality on that one kind of sucks too.

Actually, figured out what they SHOULD be using: Rush's 2112 - The Temples of Syrinx.

Can start at either "... and the meek shall inherit the earth" (which technically is the end of the 2112 Overture) OR when Geddy Lee is screeching "oh what a night ...."

Bonus points for ticking off Loaf fans by stealing a song from their local boys.
