Other then “I will save you $$$ and take all the bullets” I can’t see how this plan convinced Terry to let another year of this 💩 to go on.

It has to be all about the money even though running a competent organization that won a few playoff rounds, filled the barn and increased merch sales would be more beneficial for Terry.

I couldn't decide where to put this comment and didn't feel like making a new thread so here it is. I've been watching a number of GM press conferences today talking about their day and what they did and there was one commonality in all of them. Every single one of them (especially Sweeney who stressed it as vital) said they wanted to make sure they created an environment where the young kids had to EARN their spots on the roster and not be gifted them. They all said this was essential for their culture and growth. 

Meanwhile Kevyn creates holes so players won't be "blocked". 15 years. Go figure. 

As for what he said to Pegula? "Terry I will do whatever you want. I'm your puppet". and Terry makes ALL the big and final decisions. He is the de facto GM.

The Sabres brand is damaged so severely that an overwhelming number of the leagues impact players will not consider coming here. It’s not merely a matter of how those players view the 14 years dwelling in the basement, it’s the players that have been here with their escape from Buffalo stories.

Under This Pegulas ownership, no matter his intention, the Sabres name and logo now represent the worst case scenario for players careers, their hopes, dreams, aspirations, their internal fires for compete and glory in the hockey arenas. No player will willingly come here unless is for monetary gain, the retirement run as it were, where they don’t have to worry about working hard and winning.

That encapsulates what Sabres name and logo have become.

I’m guessing when he came on board KA and TP developed a 5 year build through the draft plan.  I think the 91 point season was unexpected.  That said I believe after this year we’ll have a new GM as i think since TP was part of the plan, he may feel an obligation to KA. 
 

I could be nuts but it’s the only explanation I can come up with.

I think he just jingled keys in front of him for like 35 minutes.. Then it was time for juice and a nap. 

After Terry woke up, he had a nice cold glass of Ovaltine and KA started pulling the lever on his speak and spell, that's how he acquired all this talent.

Benson's a carney.  You honestly think that he can't handle a little stick tap on the helmet when the HC is trying to make an example of him?  He's heard every single derogatory slur there is and it has all rolled right off.

I'm not worried about Benson not responding to a coach. I'm worried about Benson being a self-respecting SOB who wants to win and telling the GM of this team via agent: There is no counteroffer. We don't want to be here. Trade, please.

I'm not worried about Benson but the problem is there's overlap in the waves of futility so each time, the next wave wants out and next up will be Dahlin. Peterka kind of jumped the gun early on the usual pattern.
