He didn’t look thrilled to be chosen Buffalo. Maybe it’s his Eastern European heritage or maybe bummed the Kraken passed on him.

Sounds like he is really just learning English well - maybe he was nervous

I usually post on the Bills board.  I've followed the Sabres in the past, but 14 years of futility have been hard to deal with.  I think any pick thew Sabres could have made at #9 overall would have felt like a bit of a disappointment.  Kevin Adams is probably facing a do or die season this year and nobody Buffalo could have picked would contribute this upcoming season.  Anything other than a trade that could bring immediate and significant help was doomed to be a failure.  The problem is good veteran players don't want to come to the Sabres.  Other teams know that the Sabres are desperate, and they are only too happy to try and take advantage.  Those are tough circumstances in which to make a profitable trade.

It sounds as if Mrtka could contribute in a few years.  Next season will most likely be spent in juniors again.  After that there will be 2 or 3 years in Rochester.  Then, maybe we'll see if he has anything to offer the Sabres.  If the Sabres have any hope of breaking the playoff drought, they had better hope their pipeline bears some fruit and they get some help from Rochester.

I was hoping for McQueen, but Mrtka has some potential. Check back in three years and I will say, "I told you so." about McQueen.

Oh if McQueen is healthy he's Getzlaf and he will be the steal of the draft, but it's a gamble. Ducks willing to gamble so we shall see how it goes.

I see Mrtka as a safe conservative pick. You can't teach that sort of size and he's likely to become something decent, but it'll take several years. I'd rather have traded the pick than make this one. Or just go for the grit and character and take Bear.

Really hate Detroit getting Bear. Did I say that enough yet? Probably keep saying it forever.

I had to Google that to get the joke.

You had to google an autocorrect? I hope you don’t share your findings here because you’ll probably get banned.

Someone tell me how I am supposed to feel!

Kevyn says this is beyond a mere fan's knowledge of what's good for them. If this doesn't get you excited for a big playoff run, they'll do it without you.

Kevyn only wants fans who believe in him and want to be here.

He should be super excited, I mean after all, he’s going to “the” premier NHL development farms. Players that develop with the Buffalo organization go on to get their names put on one of the rings of Lord Stanley’s Cup. Not in Buffalo mind you, but on the cup none the less.

And be hard to play against.

Loved his “I bring my heart” answer.  Even though he’s 4 years away if he has a solid development track it does allow us to trade RHDs in the system ahead of him.

or get his heart broken.
