The Sabres are the only team in NHL history to win 10 games in a row and miss the playoffs (Housley's second).  That season is also the highest winning percentage at Thanksgiving for a team that missed the playoffs after The Big Lockout.

Just doing the mental computation: even if the Sabres win 10 in a row, they are likely to still be about 4 points out of a playoff spot.

Sabers are on pace for 79  points this year.  To hit 90 points, you would need to average 1.33 points a night.  With a 15-game win streak, you would need 1.33 to hit 100.  It's time to move the coach and GM.  Waiting does not benefit the new staff.

This.

To get to 96, they need to go 23-7 in their final 30 games. And they have to 10-2 or better in their remaining games against TOR, TB, DET, NJ, NYI, PIT, & MON. A third four-point loss swing against one those teams basically ends the season that night.

The Sabres would be THE team to go on a 15 game winning streak and then miss the playoffs

Now... 15 in a row, and they only have to go 8-7 in their remaining games. That's possible, however unlikely.

Is this guy a former hockey player?

No. But he's really good friends with Wayne Gretzky and Bo Jackson. They solve crimes together.

Hate to break it to you but the guy is just an actor, I doubt he’s really friends with them.  He’s in space jam as well.

That looks bad, maybe we can try to look at it a positive way, however unlikely?

-Ottawa, OTTAWA has 16 points in their last 10 games. So does Vancouver and Edmonton. 3 other teams have 15 points in their last 10. So its possible.

-If Buffalo did the same, 16 points in their next 10 games, that would put them at 66 points in 62 games.

-Currently 8th in the conference is Detroit at 57.7% of available points. If the Sabres had 66 points in 62 games, that would put them at 53.2% of points.

-That would leave them with 20 games left...and 5 points out of 8th in the conference.

So Yeah, they would have to do the 16 points in 10 games, but again, a few teams, including OTTAWA are currently on that streak. And it would still likely leave them 5 points out of 8th...but it would make it interesting at least.

Is Oopie hurt? Because if not, Granato is even more clueless than I thought. Makes ZERO sense to sit the hotter goaltender coming off a shutout with two days between games.

Edit: Never mind, I just saw the thread about Oopie’s injury. Damn.

Comrie in net, Master Algorithm says game after a Win exceeding 4 goals at home is always followed by a loss, Florida streaking, Panthers present match up problems for the Sabres, injuries to starting line up. This could be ugly.  The ONLY thing they having going for them is Bryson is in the line up......(I never thought I would write that sentence, ever).
