Traveling through western Canada ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a mountain or bounce too close to a moose and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?

Its raining today so I'm not going to hang any Christmas lights outside and my boys don't have any hockey of their own due to a league select camp which my 13yo made but he's day-to-day with a broken big toe that he injured on a stationary bike on Wednesday when his foot got smashed between the pedal and something I don't really understand how it happened anyway they won't let him play in the scrimmages today and tomorrow because he didn't go to the practice last night and if you miss a single session you're disqualified and there is no refund which sucks so long story short I'll watch the Sabres game because there's really nothing else to do thanks for listening.

All of that blows. Sorry your kid is hurt. Sorrier that it happened in a silly way. Even sorrier that the camp doesn't have a reasonable injury policy.

My kid's game isn't until 5:45 tonight so I get to watch a little football but, of course, I'll miss the good game (LSU/Georgia).  If I wasn't a schmuck I could watch the football game and the hockey game from the rink bar, but no, I'll be in the timekeeper's box as per usual.

Who knows, maybe today will be the day my kid decides to check someone. He was super physical in PW to the point that he had to have a leash on him constantly. Then he got thrown out of a game this summer, in his next game he broke his arm 30 seconds into his first shift getting checked, when he came back from that he turned into a Lady Byng candidate which is fine if you are a forward, but not if you are a defenseman.  He tagged a kid early in the season and I thought the switch flipped back on but nope. Not yet. Fingers crossed.  Not that he needs to be ripping heads off but he can't keep avoiding contact forever.

Time for the pre-game warm-up!  By which I mean a nice nap.  See you all in an hour plus whatever it takes them to sing silly songs.

Why? Why is this story going to have to end badly? Why can't some common sense intervene?

I'm sure Okposo wants to play and since this organization is more concerned with appeasing the players than winning hockey games they'll put him right back into full-time duty.

This game has "special teams failure dooms sabres" written all over it.

I predict they come out ready to play and look good for a period or two before the wheels come off losing in OT.

Okposo in

Miller out

Hutton in net

Because Kyle Okposo and his 1 goal in his last 18 games is more deserving than a guy you went out and plucked in free agency from a Stanley Cup finalist team.

In this addition of "I was wrong"... it woulda been cool to have acquired JT Miller this summer

Have we really won just 4 of our last 17? Dang

Well we know Reinhart's gonna score tonight, so just have to find 2 or 3 more goals somewhere.

Are the Canucks wearing their ghastly clown throwbacks?  Those are perhaps the worst unis in any sport, anywhere, at any time in history.
