Anyone else amazed that Hanzal got more than Shattenkirk? All season and all offseason, for the past two years really, defensemen have been a huge trade target and have demanded a big return. Then the best on the market goes less than a 30 year old two way forward? ...How??

It's Hanzal. He's so hot right now. (I'm sorry, this joke is being rolled out a lot, but you tee'd this up too well to resist)

In seriousness, it does seem a little peculiar, but I have no idea why the returns worked out like that. Would have guessed for it to be the exact opposite.

I am kinda amazed that St. Louis got so little for such a great d-man. The two "prospects" don't sound to be anything to exciting (one is like 26 years old) and of course Washington's 1st pick is not much better then a 2nd from us. Why we couldn't have sent them two of our lower-rated prospects which is essentially what St. Louis got and our 1st for such a great d-man is strange. St. Louis gives away a top 2 d-man for not much of anything and they are just a few point sup in playoff hunt so the move is even more strange. And Washington is in their conference and have to face them alot. Strange how little St. Louis got...

Common sense - because we are sellers and not buyers. Did you notice we just lost to the team in 30th place then 29th. Why trade anything for shattenkirk when he signing with the NYR after this season anyway? All he would do is hurt our draft position cuz we're out not the playoffs with or without him

In bold is not actually true.
