(February 10, 2016) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Justin Bailey from the Rochester Americans (AHL). Bailey (6’3”, 210 lbs., 7/1/1995) joins the Sabres for his first career recall after a stretch which has seen him compile 11 points (5+6) in his last eight AHL games. Through the first 47 games of his professional career, Bailey ranks second among Rochester skaters in goals (10) and fourth in points (23), and leads the team with 104 shots. A Buffalo native, Bailey was selected by the Sabres in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft before finishing his OHL career with 148 points (76+72) in 168 games with the Kitchener Rangers and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Edited February 10, 2016 by Hoss

Any word on who got sent down or IR'd?
pastajoe
Shouldn't it be "called up", since he's never played a regular season game. Put him with Eichel, don't waste him on the 4th line while Moulson plays with Jack.

pastajoe
Recalled is appropriate as he was with the team in training camp & was sent down prior to the regular season. But did they originally call him to say he was going to Rochester, or do it in person? To say recall means they're calling him again. To say recall means they're calling him again. He was sent away. He is now being brought back (I.e. recalled). When a manufacturer recalls a defective product, had they called the product previously?
Hoss
Joe Yerdon @JoeYerdon To make room for Bailey, it appears the #Sabres put Girgensons on IR. That's at least according to the team roster.

Eleven
"Recalled" is the term of art. Just accept it and move on. My parents are thrilled about this. They've been watching him play since he was about 12.
spndnchz
They called him to training camp. Did the actually call him or message him? Maybe they "messaged him up"?
MattPie
Both are improper. They are called back. To recall is to make the same call twice. There are 6 definitions for recall at dictionary.com, and none of them match yours, FWIW. verb (used with object) 1. to bring back from memory; recollect; remember: Can you recall what she said? 2. to call back; summon to return: The army recalled many veterans. 3.to bring (one's thoughts, attention, etc.) back to matters previously considered: He recalled his mind from pleasant daydreams to the dull task at hand. 4. International Law. to summon back and withdraw the office from (a diplomat). 5. to revoke or withdraw: to recall a promise. 6. to revive. #2 (and #4, to a degree) fits the meaning here to a T. Did the actually call him or message him? Maybe they "messaged him up"? The kids today would have snapshatted him up. (the typo was unintentional, but is so awesome I'm not fixing it)
Eleven
It's a defined term on page 7 of the CBA. That's the only definition that matters in this context. "Recall" means the transfer of a Player from a roster of a club outside the NHL to a Club's Active Roster. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/CBA2012/NHL_NHLPA_2013_CBA.pdf Edited February 10, 2016 by Eleven
pastajoe
Did the actually call him or message him? Maybe they "messaged him up"? They probably called coach Cunnyworth and he told Bailey he was going up. So after calling him about Catenacci, the Sabres recalled Cunnyworth about Bailey. Derrico
Good lord what is going on here? Great to see Bailey with the big team. With Compher traded away and Hurley not looking anywhere close to the show, it's nice to see one of our 3 2013 2nd rounders get a shot. They're close friends with his grandparents, so their analysis is limited to what a nice young man he is. The son they always wanted? Shots fired!
