TrueBlueGED
Oilers assign Darnell Nurse to their AHL affiliate. That guy was taken a spot ahead of Risto, yes? Makes sense. Nurse was always seen as a longer-term prospect--huge, huge upside, but would need time to get there. Wasn't there talk of him going further up like 3-5 pre-draft? I believe #5 was viewed as a bit of a crapshoot in that draft, with some preferring one of the defenders, and others preferring the second tier of forwards. But the top-4 was always MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov, and Jones in some order.
That Aud Smell
Makes sense. Nurse was always seen as a longer-term prospect--huge, huge upside, but would need time to get there. I think this is right. Risto's development track is quite different -- playing, as he did, against pros in Europe.

shrader
He was drafted in 2013, least my hearing isn't as bad as my memory. And didn't have that option of starting out in the AHL like Ristolainen did.
woods-racer
And didn't have that option of starting out in the AHL like Ristolainen did. Nurse is 6 months younger in age and about a year and half behind in development because of it.
shrader
Nurse is 6 months younger in age and about a year and half behind in development because of it. It's not an age thing, it's a CHL player vs. european player thing.
woods-racer
It's not an age thing, it's a CHL player vs. european player thing. Sorry, I was misleading. That is exactly what I mean. He was able to play a *mans* game almost a year and a half before Nurse.

Weave
I know we tend to frown on copied tweets but this one caught my eye. Jeremy White @JeremyWGR 2h2 hours ago In 05-06 the Panthers were dead last with 411 PP opportunities. In 2014-15 Detroit had the most with 294. #Deathofthe100pointscorer Dead puck era? More like dead whistle era.

I saw 4 blatant interference penalties last night 2 on Buffalo and 2 Buffalo committed and no whistle. The league is fat dumb and happy.

LGR4GM
TSN Top 50 NHL players... Connor McDavid made the list but Jack Eichel and all of the Buffalo squad was left off. I love being an underground, that surprised look ppl get when you own them is quite, satisfying. http://www.tsn.ca/crosby-no-1-for-sixth-straight-year-on-tsn-s-top-50-list-1.368712

WildCard
Not only did McDavid make the list, but he's 37th. For all the talk about how close him and Eichel are, that ranking is absurd. He's ahead of a ton of good players

We are talking about who is ranked 37th I really don't understand why the rankings aren't more criticized than they are. There is no way in hell McDavid is the 37th best player in the league Edited October 1, 2015 by WildCard
