darksabre
The team had just improved from 3-13 to 8-8...5 games is a monumental jump in the NFL. The team was 11th in offense and 5th in defense that 8-8 season. We added Lawyer Milloy, then a Pro Bowl caliber safety. And lo and behold, we demolished the Patriots then similarly smacked the Jags. There was very real optimism at the time. Sure, the wheels ended up falling off, but that doesn't change that you are 100% incorrect in how you're remembering the sentiment surrounding that team. I remember thinking that team sucked from day one. Maybe it was because I knew Bledsoe wasn't a savior. Maybe it's because I had no reason to believe that the Bills were going to be good. But I have no idea why anyone thought the 2003 Bills were going to be a threat. They were already at league wide joke status by then. Drew Bledsoe wasn't going to pull them out of that hole. Good on everyone who bought in like suckers though. Maybe you enjoyed the last decade more than me.

TrueBlueGED
I thought about Blue, it really comes down to me being ashamed of being a Bills fan for so long that I want that statement win against the team that has dominated us for 14 years. I want Brady and his cheating Patriots to slapped down with such force they never forget that time they came to Ralph Wilson Stadium. I know it won't happen but when they build the new stadium, they should name it Ralph Wilson Stadium. That man did so much for football, I think he has earned it. Of course you want that. Everyone wants a blowout. The notion that only a blowout is acceptable is what's mind boggling to me.

inkman
On the sound quality: I think most videos of the stadium fail to capture what the noise level is like inside. On the feeling of game 1: I agree. It was ... vaguely familiar to someone who well remembers the Marv era Bills. And so pleasant. This is a good stuff. I will admit: I carefully manage the extent to which I buy into the team's chances because, for me, I become an unbearable, non-functional jerk if I go ALL IN and we lose. My wife tearfully begged me to throttle back when I went f'ing bonkers that time we lost to ... who? Cinci? I got a house full of kids, man -- I just can't afford it. Losing to Pittsburgh back ups sent me into a flying rage. I was miserable for the rest of that season and the next. It actually started my descent into apathy. I stopped caring about the Bills. musichunch
"Lots of reasons" being what? The Concept of Travis Henry? Eric Moulds being the only legit receiving threat? Leading scorer Rian Lindell? That team didn't have sh*t. The inferiority complex is overwhelming. Someone ran the numbers on TBD and if we won all our Pats game the last 15 years we would have made the playoffs 4 times, including at least twice during the Bledsoe years. So that pathetic team with Bledsoe, Henry, and Moulds makes the playoffs in 2002 and 2004 if we beat the Pats. Three former pro bowlers you mention, but for some reason they're not good enough for you. If we take into consideration Spygate, well....we should've been there. For anyone curious, 2006 and 2014 are the other years. Yes, that means Losman and Jauron. Edit: In 2002, we would've hosted a wildcard game. What other opinion am I supposed to have? Eternal hope? Am I supposed to look fondly on the last 15 years? Was I supposed to feel something other than eye rolling disappointment this whole time? The Bills haven't been legitimately exciting since Flutie Flakes were on the shelves. Really. I have no idea how people have stayed die-hard fans of this team for so long. How do people actually find the emotional willpower to be wistful about something like beating the Patriots in week one 12 years ago with Drew Bledsoe? Good god. I can't think of a better reason to want the Bills to come out on Sunday and lay a whoopin on the Pats like nothing I've ever seen. The Bills from Todd Collins to Kyle Orton should be bleached from everyone's minds and never spoken of again. That's the kind of win I want to see this weekend. And there's no reason I can't want that.

Win those games and suddenly you would look fondly on the Bledsoe years, and maybe even the Jauron years if we win a playoff game. I'm just annoyed to death with fans acting like we've had the worst teams in the world. They were never good enough, but we never went through what the Lions went through. Every time I bring it up I get the same exact response you just gave: "I'm just so sick and tired....". The Pats dynasty being in our division is one of the biggest reasons for us falling short year after year. If anybody think beating them is "just another game", they have their heads up their ass. K8prisoner
i conveniently got kicked off twobills for the two weeks before the brady cheat scum com to town to steal our defensive signals videotape our closed practices because they are the most cowardly group of women ever assembled to systematically dishonor the game of football i used to love and will always rain or shine be afflicted with the i love buffalo sports disease which i am told is incurable.. the main symptom is unfailing hope despite all rational facts to the contrary.. i need someone to help me pick a few fight with a few 'bills' fans that are actually real buff fan until it conflicts with their paid side gigs as schill for the kraft organization that poisons more food for us goyim than any other in the country... please help me create a bounty on that little prissy cheating brady who has created a generation of kids who think its ok to lie cheat and steal, and lie some more after you are caught for the third time and his scum master bellicheat who like poison infects his organization and the league with dishonorable cheating that goes way beyond the shenanigans that we all fumblerooskie love about football.. his team blows and is sooo bad they need to have the plays for the other teams offense and defense ahead of time in order to compete.. we, at buffalo arent whiners' ... we just kill card cheats and liars ( any good cheat can assure 100% victory if he is any good at his craft)... and we always willn (i hope) my ban ends on the 26th I just pointed out quite effectivelt that no man should be honored in a sport (which implies the best team win thru physical competition) that all he has done to succeed in that sport is master stealing plays, bugging lockerooms and become the best awww sschucks liar in the professional arena,, if that is what has become of sports then i am done with it and when i play tennis ill still tell the truth .. out or in on the lines calls because thats what it is to be a sportsman...... We should teach the world that defeating these cheating scum and pelting kraft with the poisins he puts in his foods , throwing illegal cds and thumb drives while disguised as nfl camera crews for the cheatie hood man... how about just pelt brady with some tissues and lipstick so he looks like the lieing he truly is to all show the kids and the families in buffalo that sunday is a RECKONING for the pretend men too afraid to compete straight up and who completely ruined a game i love, so i wont even bet... please help give these betrayers of the idea of a fair game the welcome and boot to the rear only the hard working people of Buffalo can give and bring these women a little reminder that cheating us out of the division has consequences.. Well, if you assume two more wins per year, you've kinda assumed away the problem, innit? The Bills have been a joke. They haven't finished 2-14 every year -- but, and this is even worse, they weren't really trying to win. They sold off a home game every year for a few million bucks. They hired one bargain-bin loser after another at coach and GM. They were run not to be contenders but to scratch out $20MM - $30MM per year in profit. That's what I can't forgive. That's the stain on Ralph's legacy. It's different now. The galvanizing talk from Rex is great, and the possibility of Vick 2.0 is tantalizing, and the foot fetishes and porn lollipop tricks are pretty swell too, but the real improvement is that the team has rejoined the NFL. Also -- Liger -- I freaking love that scene.

However, there have been multiple years where we've defeated the Dolphins and Jets twice. If that happened with the Patriots in any of the 4 years I mentioned, we make the playoffs. Then all of a sudden, our last 15 years are on par with the Bengals or Vikings.

JujuFish
Remember years back when we smoked them to open the season? That meant nothing. This game, if won, means the exact same thing whether it's a huge win or a squeaker. As such, we should be perfectly happy to beat them regardless of what it looks like. It did mean one thing: Sam Adams, rumbling his way to the endzone with an interception, on the cover of Sports Illustrated. It's unreasonable that in the past 13 years we've beat Brady once and I want better? Sure whatever. Thrice, though one of those games was the meaningless week 17 win last season.
