I think he's going to be a good one and it's a positive that they are giving him the proper time to develop.  It's been so rare in recent years to see this organization make a good decision that it's almost odd to recognize it when they do.

They are pretty tough as currently constructed. Geertsen might elevate them to Goony team status.

Mrtka is a young 18 who hasn’t played a lot of junior hockey. This is the best move. He got a couple weeks of pro coaching and now can go back and play 30 minutes a night with a lot of PP time.

I think he will be a good one but there is no reason to rush him.

lol, exactly. Finally they are starting to take more time with some of these guys. It's the right call.

Last year, Mrtka turned the Thunderbirds season around mid-year.

This year, he gets to start earlier. The T-Birds currently sit in second-to-last place in the Western Conference. Cootes has played 3 games after his time up. Re-enter Mrtka shortly.
