IDK - I think Adams is responsible for creating the culture driving free agents to say "anyone else".  It's not like he's just been in the job for just a year....he's had enough (if not too much) time to create an atmosphere to attract top free agents.  He has failed and I can't cut him any slack for being new in the job or other legit excuse.  He's had 5 years and is sleeping in the crap bed that he's responsible for making.

everything you've said was said about the BILLS during their epic drought. And the new GM & coach turned everything around by having a plan on how to do it & executing on it. The BILLS success didn't come over night. But thru smart drafting & adding certain role players, they were able to turn the team into a perennial contender & destination. 

The same thing could happen to the Sabres, there's nothing preventing that from happening other than the guy whose been running the show hasn't been able to execute a successful plan to win games. His name is Kevyn Adams. He seems to feel that he needs palm trees to turn this thing around. The BILLS didn't need any excuses.

I did say there was plenty he's guilty of....  Terry Pegula creates an atmosphere that makes UFAs not want to sign here. 🙂

Friedman commented on Ehlers on NHL network....likes Carolina, Washington, Columbus, Anaheim, possibly LA in the mix.  Anybody here hoping for Ehlers to Buffalo should avoid getting to close to the edge of any cliffs.

As we should have expected.  

If your fan-plan was to sign anyone of value, I think you were already wrong.  No other league in sports has this many no-trade and no-movement clauses, and because of that the player's have the power to avoid trades to failing teams, small market teams, and higher taxes.  Then you factor in the LTIR rules that allow teams to circumvent the hard salary cap, and you aren't even punished or taxed for exceeding it. 

The new rule will make teams play a cap-compliant lineup in the playoffs, which will harm teams who in the past have just activated a player for the playoffs.  Good for competitive balance, but the issue I see is you still aren't creating a balance for 32 teams.

Except the top of the organization hasn't held a press conference in years. Adams talks to the top everyday and "has all the resources he needs" to run the ship as he sees fit, and makes sure that every trade is approved. Adams is, for all intents & purposes, the head of the organization and the face of the franchise.

Let’s all admit one thing. Pegula needs to sell this team. He’s too much of a fanboy and wants to mingle with everyday operations. He won’t hire proven people and isn’t willing to pony up to make this team a contender. Adams would have been fired yrs ago by the rest of the league.

His record after 5 seasons is worthy of termination from any of the 31 other teams.   His willingness to be a toady for Terry says a lot about the guy.

I don't, not even for the briefest of moments, think Adams is the head of the organization.  Adams is a sycophant who opted to buy-in to the Pegula business model. He accepted being the one having to talk to the media and defend the actions of his boss.

Adams can spin any diatribe he would like but after continued failing of the front office across multiple people it's clear that the way he sees fit to run the ship is in accordance to what Admiral Pegula dictates and that he definitely has all the resources to make sure it happens.

Adams is not innocent nor would I even try to defend him. But Pegula is who has made this franchise the joke of the sports world and those who sign on to be part of it are just willing accomplices.

I have come to the firm belief this wrong. Terry is in fact the actual GM. Adams is merely his puppet who handles the paperwork, makes the calls, does whatever he's told. Terry pulls all the strings and that is why he didn't fire Adams. Good puppets are hard to find.

Most definitely true. I'm a little confused with what Boston is doing (other than signing Jeannot to be Hagens bodyguard) but they aren't sitting pat that's for sure. Detroit and Montreal definitely better.
