On the one hand, a 6’5 RHD is probably more valuable than an undersized C for roster construction.  But there is a lot to like in Rossi.

I like Rossi but I think they got more value with Kesserling and Doan.

Couldn't imagine caring about Marco Rossi. He's small and the Wild aren't that good. The Sabres trading for him would be more of the same.

Well, ain't that the point?  Until you actually get something different, you expect more of the same.

Rossi got demoted to the 4th line, rightfully or wrongly, but this is what the Wild wanted to send us for a 1st line winger? lol.

He’s a centre, he’s 23, and his career points trajectory so far is 1-40-60

Objectively….is Rossi that much better than Ryan McLeod?

McLeod is pretty well rounded but so is Rossi I believe. McLeod had 23 points the same age Rossi just had 60

So I’d imagine Rossi’s ceiling is quite a bit higher considering he’s already passed mcleods career outlier

I don’t really think centres or passers are something Adams is interested in

They got something different with the return on Peterka.

Would love to see the Sabres trade for Rossi and then they still suck and everyone hates him. Because that's how it would go.

And they in fact did do and did get something different.

Is it enough, will it work?  Wtf knows.  HOPEFULLY what they did get is just the 1st of about 4 significant moves that need to be made (ideally along with 2-4 other more minor moves).  (Though their thorough refusal to fix the coaching at least until this point leaves one to fear they won't have the skill/stomach to make those additional other 3 significant moves.)

I don’t want another small skilled forward. I want to build a team of bullies (on the ice). I want to be done with the guys who just look around when your top forward gets destroyed. Samuelsson should have been gone when he did nothing. Kesselring and Doan bring that toughness mentality so I expect almost every pickup that we get via trade or FA should have the same imo.

Especially with talk Rossi wants $7m per season.

Well... how do we feel about this?

Honestly I'm okay with it so long we get a top 6 or more for Byram, and who knows move 9OA too pending what teams are offering. As still feel need to  add a veteran goalie that can split starts with UPL and maybe improve our 4th line in free agency.

Well the good thing about less talented and good players is we don’t have to pay them as much (I’m sure that’s coincidental)

That they are inexpensive is neither a reflection of their value nor the reasons we traded for them. PURELY coincidental

I'm okay moving Samuelsson elsewhere and that $4.28 million salary used on some that deserves it.

If sammy is waived what is the cap implications?

I have been raging for grit and size talent attitude combination... getting Rossi makes us smaller... as much as I would like to bite... I gotta go with I like the prospect of having people on this team that will engage people with purpose who knows if any one of us is right, time will tell... maybe we should have... but I think I at least like the acknowledgement that there needs to be some aggression in the line up.

Small, under a mil a year. Per Google:

A buyout of Mattias Samuelsson's contract, which has five years remaining, would cost the Sabres $714,286 against the salary cap each year for the next 10 years. This would save the team roughly $3.5 million against the cap in each of the next five years.

Adams hates Rossi simple as that.

I would not have traded Peterka for Rossi however unless they added. I think I liked Peterka more than average here and I am pretty pissed we moved him for what we did but Rossi instead of him doesn't really fit with where this roster needs to go, especially if you are convinced Norris will play and be a solid 1C.

Here's my question though. How much better than Will Borgen is Kesselring? Because to me Kesselring is 50% Borgen 50% Jokiharju so he's more well rounded than either of them but we're basically not making progress.
