2025 Stanley Cup Final will begin Wednesday, June 4, when the Edmonton Oilers host the defending champion Florida Panthers in Game 1 (8 p.m. ET; SN, CBC, TVAS, TNT, truTV, Max).

Out of respect for my Canadian brothers, I’m doing something I’ve never done before and that is root for the Oilers to win it all.

Thanks for the respect. I am a 50 year Sabres fan so my desire to bring the Cup “home” is on a back burner.

I am not pulling for either team this year. Panthers have their Cup but I love their game and wouldn’t be upset with a repeat. I still have a soft spot for Sam as well.

My only reason to cheer for the Oilers is for McDavid’s legacy. He has won everything but a Cup and it is his motivation at this time. Couldn’t care less about Draisaitl, I have a hard time seeing him as a superstar in his own right. He is more like Malkin in my eyes, excellent player who can take over a game but not generational. Kane and Skinner winning would be irritating.

Rooting for the Oilers so Jeff Skinner and Evander Kane can be added to the illustrious list.  Maybe Matt Savoie too?

Add Ryan McLeod to the list of guys who may want out if Savoie plays and hoists the Cup.

I really wish the NHL would drop 10-12 games from the regular season. Its too damn long. I don't like the Cup awarded in the third week of June. It should be done by end of May. Cut out some preseason games and start the season in September. I love hockey, but there are too many games and a late trophy. Obviously this won't happen because the owners heads would explode losing money, god forbid. Just my opinion. 

Will Canada's drought continue.... 1993? Stay tuned. Hope the series is a good one.

Way too many games. They could drop 20 games during the regular season . How often do we see a tired team.

Too many games, too many teams, not enough true star players to go around, and the season is way too long.

Weird.  I thought the season ended around Dec 1.  Are there teams that play until June?

And it becomes an 80% league. The playoffs are the only games where you see 100% effort for extended periods.

There is a spring league that the Sabres are not invited to ever year.

Jeff Skinner, the person does not bother me. I certainly don’t root against him or any team he plays on.  Just glad he’s not wasting a roster spot on this team (I know how worse off would they be with him).  I’m hoping McDavid gets his cup.  Been a long time coming.

Here's hoping Skinner can win a cup.   As well as McDavid/Draisaitl, who are deserving of their chance to hoist the cup.  In addititon, it's long time a Canadian market that isn't Toronto wins a cup.  I never want to see that happen.

Our new Jeff Skinner is Josh Norris.  Though he's more injury prone.
