Offer sheet season

So Kotkaniemi goes to the canes.

And my mind starts thinking 'what if?'

We still have our Rasmus to sign, loads of cap room so I'm not worried.

However, I glance over at our expansion brothers out west and wonder if Adams would be audacious enough to try to offer sheet EP. They have roughly 13M (afterLTIR) in cap room to sign EP and QH.

Would you try for either in Adams' situation?

Please spell out acronyms on first use.  EP?  QH?

It's interesting but I would suggest not this season.  We would be giving up an unprotected 1st as part of the package.  If we added Peterson I still don't see us having a great season and there are some great prospects coming in the next draft.

Example:  signing between $8,221,464 - $10,276,829 requires 2 First Round Picks, 1 Second Round Pick, 1 Third Round Pick.  Over that amount requires 4 first round picks.

Would absolutely love if they used all that cap space to fill a hole with a major talent, but this team ain't gonna be put on the ice to win this season.

Used all of it?  I’d be happy if they just used some of it on goaltending, other than Grandpa Anderson, Beer League goalies Tokarski, Houser, and Dell, and “not ready for prime time” UPL.

Our first-round picks the next two seasons are as close a guarantee to top-10 as there is, regardless of any single skater (non-goalie) out there. This season in particular we are gunning for a top-5 pick based on the goaltending. Don't forget, Granato isn't running a veteran Blues-trapping lineup where a rookie like Binnington would come in and put up electric numbers. He's going with the offensive, attacking, let-the-goalie face some odd-man rushes... for our viewing entertainment. But none of the current 'tenders are Hasek (although Anderson's career overlapped with Hasek). Don't give up the multiple top-10, cost-controlled picks for an Elias Pettersson or Cale Makar, because they aren't singlehandedly turning this thing around. Not with the next couple drafts coming up.
