Trade Speculation and Rumors 2018-19

Hutton had a great year for St Loyis last year and part of the reason they want to keep him. Problem is he is over 30 and a career backup so who knows what you will get as many of those types of goalies end up in bad contracts cause their good year was a fluke or isnt replicated again. I would hope they could do better if the plan is Ullmark and a FA/trade.

I would prefer Anderson or maybe Bernier. At least Anderson has had multiple good years and more experience as a #1.

Apparently Hutton is looking for a spot where he can be the #1, and has about 5 teams (CHI, BUF, NYI,and 2 others) that he is focusing on since he would have the best chance of having a starting job there.

Wouldn't hate the signing, might be a good stop gap at the #1 spot for a couple seasons with Ullmark slowly taking over, or earning the spot by playing better. I wouldn't be excited about it though.

Hutton is a career back-up, sucks sounds like way too strong a word for him though.

He has a .918---.913 and a .931 save % over his last 3 years. 2.33--- 2.39 and a 2.09 GAA in that same timeframe. Is he a #1 goalie, probably not but he's a good backup for Ullmark until he proves his worth also.

Blackhawks are in on this and so is the NY Islanders, will probably have to overpay to get him from them.

@PierreVLeBrun

The expectation is that Joe Thornton is staying put in San Jose. No hurry to get his deal done, what his contract looks like depends on who else the Sharks can add (hint, hint). To be clear, the Sharks absolutely have room to sign John Tavares and keep Thornton, too.

Thornton's going to take a sweetheart discount to take one last swing at it w/ Tavares on board, isn't he?

#LAKings will not be qualifying 25-year-old forward Tobias Rieder ($2.25m), making him a potential UFA on July 1.

Fast bottom six defensive forward.

From Dreger

As expected, significant interest with 10-plus teams engaged with the James van Riemsdyk camp. JvR is a deliberate and thorough guy, my sense is he will use the entire time available to work through the process.

Michal Kempny's strong playoffs with the Cup champions translating into lots of interest, 7-8 teams have already called for the UFA blue-liner. The Capitals also remain in the mix and are the only team, of course, who can sign him now before the market opens Sunday
