Sens are shopping Spezza. Again.

Do we even have a conversation about biting on this? Not sure we do. He's got a limited NTC.

It's not even a very good report. And Bryan Murray doesn't even want to talk about it.

"I had one guy ask if I want to comment to quiet the rumours and I said, 'No.' I'm not going to ... The more I say about it the more it's going to be played over and over in the next couple of days," Murray told reporters in Vancouver,.. "I'll just say we have not talked, at this point in time, about Jason Spezza."

I live in Las Vegas and we don't have enough to get a team here. That would be pure stupidity if they expand to Las Vegas. The pro team we have draws on 2000-7000 and I'm being generous on the 7,000. I lived in Buffalo for my first 16 years and have watched Las Vegas expand but the only market I see happening and that is a long shot is the NBA.

I don't think the NHL would work in Vegas. I do think the NBA would.

There is currently a group preparing to build a $1.2 billion sports stadium there in hopes to attract the NBA, probably the NHL as well.

There have been all kinds of proposals for arenas and stadiums and sports complexes planned for and proposed and on the brink of being agreed to and built. They have all fallen through for various reasons, mostly political. One will eventually be made, but I am very skeptical about each one that is allegedly supposed to be done.

A few years, the same guy I know very, very well had an arena on the verge of being approved and built in Vegas, had an NHL owner committed to bringing his team there, no problem from Bettman, and had lengthy one on one discussions with Daniel Stern about an NBA team there and Stern was very willing to explore it, he just hadn't necessarily gone to the owners and lobbied for it and got a yea or nay vote. It will happen at some point, although it could be 10 years.

I could tell you for a fact that NHL won't work in Las Vegas. Don't get me wrong we do have alot of fans but not enough to fill a building night in and night out. It would be much worse that Phoenix.

I think they would be counting on a lot of the tickets being provided by the casinos and tourism buying them and giving them away.

Of course it does. However Ristolainen and Kesler aren't on the same level as the McDavid comparisons to Crosby as a generational superstar; the type of player that you completely build around. I don't want my team to be focusing completely on one player, especially considering the risks of the draft lotto where we might not even get that pick and we tanked 2014-15 on purpose. As much as it didn't work under Darcy, I still believe that in today's hockey the most successful teams are ones that build around a core.

Nobody could possibly disagree with this. You absolutely need a group. The debate is how to get that group, not whether it's necessary. As Physics said, we're not putting all of our chips on McDavid. He's certainly the ideal, but there are other franchise players in that draft. And that's in addition to our current system and whoever we draft this year. Zemgus, Risto, Zadorov, Sam, 2015 1st...that's a hell of a group, even if McDavid ends up being a different top-5 pick.

Who cares if they plan to buy them to give away when you still see tons of empty seats that people got for free that didn't show up. Vegas is a bad bad idea.

I agree. I have lived in two cities that have the majority of their population from someplace else, Phoenix and Los Angeles. It's extremely hard to find good, loyal, emotionally attached fans there. I was just commenting on how they planned to sell the tickets and fill the arena. And you're right, a lot of the sold tix would be empty seats.

Awful lot of "I know for a fact" getting tossed around in here.

I know for a fact that my facts in this thread are almost facts. ;)

Sabres relevant stuff:

Bob McKenzie says that the Chris Stewart to Ottawa talks have "cooled" and a deal isn't close at all.

Pierre LeBrun says that the Sabres are shopping Halak and Minnesota has interest, but they're working other fronts in net, too.

Dreger said that there's A LOT of interest in Ehrhoff and Myers, but the asking price will have to go down for a move to be made.

LA is interested in Moulson but the price needs to come down.

A little more intel on Kings-Sabres Moulson dance that sure to make Kings fans sweat.......

Dennis Bernstein@DennisTFP 1m

Kings top LW target is Matt Moulson. Sabres demand Tyler Toffoli in return. Kings could consider if Ehrhoff in deal and Kings would add too

Expand

Moulson + Ehrhoff for Toffoli + 2015 1st would be something I'd probably do.

If that is somehow true, which I doubt, some salary has to come back to b-lo unless the kings have $6+ mill in cap room.

Not terrible, but considering how much ridiculous cash value Ehrhoff's contract has, I'd bump that a little in our favor:

Moulson + Ehrhoff for Toffoli + 2015 1st + 2016 2nd (we have LA's 2014 #2, 2015 #2 already)

I think Ehrhoff's worth a little more than a low 1st and 2nd, just enough more to keep LA happy to give us Toffoli for Moulson.

I'd be happy with that. While we are at it though...Brown has struggled this year and his long term contract kicks in next season. They may want to move him. If not now, I could see it at the draft.

Moulson + Ehrhoff + 2nd (LA 2014) for Toffoli + Brown

What do you think?
