Why is the league opener at 5PM when it is a weeknight?  The NHL can never get out of its own way.

Is that not to allow for the late game to start early as well? They want people watching all 3 games.

Chicago might be fortunate (and Florida might be getting even more injured) but the one thing I'm noticing is Bedard might be coming into his own now. Could be a breakout year. Knight also looks pretty good so maybe no McKenna for Chicago.

Kyle Connor is extending in Winnepeg 12 million AAV on a long term deal, reported by EF. no confirmation of years yet 

 

this should mean Tuch can’t eclipse 10 per season as Connor is a much better player

Rags looked like they either don't grasp Sullivan's system yet or want no part of it. All the experts predicting their resurgence might have it wrong. Too early to say obviously but they looked bad.

They are not a very deep team. They have one good defensive pair. The third and 4th lines don't inspire confidence. The goalie can only do so much. I think it will be another long year for them.

He says he worked a lot on his skating this offseason because he saw the analytics and realized he was slower last year than he was his rookie season and thought that was unacceptable.

Pens started two teenagers on defense and a new goalie and shut out Rangers. Are Rangers that bad or have Pens found some magic? 

Let's hope the Rangers don't find their scoring touch in our home opener. Sabres need to play that tight defensive game and have our scorer deliver timely scoring.

Let's hope the Rangers don't find their scoring touch in our home opener. Sabres need to play that tight defensive game and have our scorer deliver timely scoring. 

When Abbotsford won the Cup as the Canucks farm I said we should go after Silovs as the Canucks had to move a goalie. He was the reason they won that cup. He is a gamer. Good old Latvian goalie. The next Arturs Irbe. Penguins didn't pay a lot to get him. Great pick up. 

Also liked Brazeau when he was on the Bruins. Slow as molasses but around the net he's a force. We are too speed oriented to want guys like that but he's a great complimentary player with the right linemates. I bet he gets at least 20 for them this year. 

Can Sabres play a tight defensive game???
