Considering they didn't even have a framework of a new deal moving forward and the current lease runs out in 4 days, probably about the best we could've hoped for at this time. 2 1 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted Sunday at 01:04 PM Report Posted Sunday at 01:04 PM Five years should be sufficient to finish the stadium, win a Super Bowl, and use the afterglow to ask for $600M of public funding in a massive arena renovation in the KBC structure. The Sabres can play at.... Penn St., an outdoor home game in Boston, etc., for the season while KBC in its biggest construction throes. Quote

Actually they might be able to play at KBC even during construction. They pulled it off in Cleveland with the Cavaliers when Quickin Loan Arena was being updated. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago They could split some time with the Amerks, but it's called the Pegula Ice Arena (and though smaller, it's much newer). Pegula would love to do games there, especially games against Pitt/Wash/Philly where they could get an upscaled price and a full barn of visiting fans. 1 Quote

Why would Buffalo play their games 4 hours away when there's closer rinks nearby? Quote

Eleven Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago There's no reason for them to play games *anywhere* else. The arena needs renovation, not reconstruction, and it will be fine if the work is done during successive summers--once it begins. They're not going to play in a 6,000-person arena in the middle of nowhere. Quote

One of the proposals they seemed VERY interested in back a few years was replacing a lot of the seats down along center ice in the 100's with tables that 3 or 4 could sit and and watch the game getting a full concierge experience. Think the seats over by the bar on the 200 level behind / near the goal line that the Sabres defend twice. Hoping they don't decide to do that, because that would result in a full reshuffling of where everybody that's put up with this team for the past 15 or so years (with many being there for much longer than that) ends up having their tix. 1 Quote

I think in some football or baseball stadiums, they have areas where they take out seats... Or seats were never put in and they have the concierge experience locations like you're mentioning. The thing is they don't have to be right down center ice, and a lot of those cases. They're tucked away in the corner or they take out the bad seats and put them in. The thinking is a lot of people who want to sit there... They want exposure to the game, but the experience is more important than being in the exact prime location. At least that's what I think I've seen on some videos of some of these new and renovated stadiums and arenas. Quote

When the Jays renovated Roger’s Centre they included a section where you get table service but it’s in the outfield. Not a couple of rows behind home plate. Would be great if the Sabres get good soon and start filling the rink again. They just put a new roof on and added the scoreboard. I can’t see a new stadium in the cards but add some major renovations over a couple of summers and that will go a long way. The team being competitive and bringing in more people / revenue will help the business case. Quote

They took out a couple rows in the corner sections. I could absolutely see a seating reduction in a renovated arena. 17K instead of 19K? Edited 1 hour ago by PromoTheRobot Quote
