Thank goodness and about time. The HHOF is back to meaning something again. Every year he’s been left out the inductions have meant less and less. 
 

Two new members had to have swayed the vote finally. Iginla and Eddie O.

That WJHC line of Mogilny, Fedorov and Bure was my introduction to him and I couldn’t believe the Sabres got him out of Russia.

There were alot of rumors swirling about Russian mafia shaking down NHL players.  I recall Bure being linked to the Russian mob.  I always assumed that Mogilny’s fear of flying was related to threats on his life.  I know there was speculation it was related to him not wanting to be a Sabre, or not wanting to be under Bowman. I thought fear of the Russian mob was the more likely circumstance.

Hawerchuck, Andrechuck, Audette, Ledyard, Svoboda.

I don’t think we fully appreciated what we had.

At one point the Sabres had Turgeon, Andreychuk, Housley, and Barrasso on the same team. Oldest Housley at 24. Barrasso was traded and Mogilny joined the next year. All are Hall of Famers.

I’m not taking anything away from the accomplishments of these men. Great hockey players all. At least 4 cup rings in there.  A part of me thinks more patience was needed.  But I honestly don’t think they would have sniffed a cup together in Buffalo.

Hard to say as Scotty Bowman won Cups elsewhere. Granted we didn't have many great Dmen in the 80s after we moved on from Housley.

And that's one of the things that's actually been mentioned for why he's not in already.  They didn't want to vote him in and then no-show the induction ceremony because he won't travel.  If there's even an ounce of truth to that, shame on those idiots.
