The Band Crap Thread

i think I mentioned up somewhere, but AGSFB and Asteroids Galaxy Tour should be something you check out. Perhaps the Ting Tings too, but only if you like some of the Debbie Harry Blondie "rap" songs, with more yelling.

I do know the Ting Tings. I do not know the other two. Will check them out!

I wouldn't go on my desert island without ...

1) London Calling

2) Queen Greatest Hits

3) Classic Queen

4) Legend - Bob Marley

5) Live At Fillmore East

That's all.

Shame on you if you need to look them up.

Great thread

It took 6 pages for the Clash to show up. Like a streaking comet a short lived but absolutely brilliant band. Still sound fresh today. Amazed that my teenage children have glommed onto them. I grew up in a tiny town and they opened up the world to me.

Other things. Agree.....DMB can't keep mediocrity at bay. Wasn't a huge Beatles fan until I started playing their music. And there are many great musicians, but not as many great songwriters. I value the latter most (see Bob Dylan).

For reasons I still can't quite fathom, I was awake for SNL.

The HAIM ladies performed.

On hearing the first bars of the first song, I was like, "Nice. A Feist-esque trio?"

Then they got into the hook of this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnRp_sXMW2w

And I was like, "A modernized, self-instrumented Wilson Phillips?"

Josie and I caught this on Saturday too. I had only recently heard of them (or perhaps realized that I had probably heard them before). I couldn't stop laughing at the bass player making crazy faces.

Also, their double Bari Sax accompaniment (on the second set) is very groovy and makes me

Would need some SRV instead of Rolling Stones

I'm not sure what you mean, I've gotten a bunch of leads from this place over the years; sure, there's lots of classic rock talk but there's a bunch of gems too. It's a parallel to the discussion just above where there is a *ton* of great music being made right now, and often a couple clicks away. You have to wade through butt rock chat and NS's ridiculous takes to find the diamonds in the rough. :)

What ridiculous takes?  I promised Smell that I would stop with certain stuff ... what else?

The Clash is the only band that ever mattered.  Just ask anyone.  They are timeless, really.  So much said in so little time, but those 7 years were about the max for them anyway.  I don't really count the last 2+ years.  My Clash includes Topper and Mick.

Queen is my 1A and like Josie said way up thread ... my Queen includes Freddie and for that matter, John.

My top 5 favorite albums

1) Skillet "Comatose comes Alive"

2) Skillet "Unleashed"

3) Guns N Roses "Use your Illusion 1"

4) Guns N Roses "Use your Illusion 2"

5) Journey "Greatist Hits"

That'd be in my top 5 as well.

This is what got me into Disturbed.

Desert Island Discs? I'll play:

1. The Cure: Disintegration

2. Bowie: Blackstar

3. The Clash: London Calling

4. The Smiths: The Queen is Dead

5. Jimi Hendrix: Electric Ladyland

God, cutting the list to five is painful. But this is about right.
