  1. Just home from game. The singing of the Anthems were the highlight. This product is defective.
  2. This thread is fascinating. My mid 20's kids all had Briere, Drury and Miller jerseys and I took them to games throughout the first 10 years of the drought. Then I noticed they didn't want to go anymore and claimed the Sabres always put me in a bad mood. I'm sorry I ruined them. I took my son to the Devin Levy debut against the Rangers and thought I was getting him back. He poked his head in last night and said "Dad, how do you watch this "S##$3!" I would ask that of any new fans. We don't even have RJ to sugarcoat this turd.
  3. They played not to lose in the last 6 minutes of regulation and deserved to lose.
  4. This is the best version I've ever heard. Truly amazing. Wow, thank you for sharing.
  5. I'm old. Been a fan since day 1. Still entertained. Love this sport.
  6. That there is playoff talk in mid February and the team has had some really fun moments seems like a win. LFG!
  7. I liked KA's "Who wants to be here?" mindset. The malcontents seem to be gone.
  8. I've taken my family a few times prior to COVID traveling from the Rochester area. The place was dead and both times were big losses. My kids didn't hate it, but it's not like with the Bills when they were bad, where at least the tailgaiting was fun. I won't take them again, but it's a chicken / egg thing. They have never know the Sabres to be playoff good although when they were little they wore slug Briere/Drury/Miller gear. they were too young to remember that. I'll also offer that my 65" HDTV cost less than a game with the family and the televised product is so much better than it used to be.
  9. A good candidate with the runway for stability is the cornerstone of dynasties. I hope Donny is our guy. It feels like he is in the "driven to improve" mindset and I am optimistic about the season(s).
  10. Went to the game. Super fun period and overtime. Tough first two periods. The posts here have been spot on. Weissbach shouldn't have been moved. That whole incident was tough to watch. There was a tool sitting behind me with full Belleville swag on. With his wife and baby. Was totally chirping for two periods (Yelling "scoreboard" over and over) and then getting peeved for the crowed being too loud for his baby. His wife looked miserable. Dude was in the obnoxious stratosphere. So satisfying to watch him skulk out. I'm not one to taunt, but I did say "Hey" and when he looked up pointed to the scoreboard and told him he shouldn't mess with the hockey gods. I hope the Amerks can close out, but it won't be easy. I'd love to go to another game in the next series.
  11. The sadness is real. I'm 60 and remember when the Sabres were and expansion team. I didn't follow them right away, but I had older cousins that I looked up to that got me into Sabres hockey and I've been addicted since. My first game (I've posted this before) was the famous fog game, but much of my Sabres enjoyment came from the radio. Even in the 80s when I lived in Westchester I could tune in at night and listen to Rick. Such a constant in my life it's like a relative dying. Even though I know he's still out there and we've never met. Many folks wish they could hang with a favorite athlete, musician, author, etc. Me, I'd have a few beers with RJ.
  12. I took my kids to a few games during the drought pre-covid. The product was boring and the atmosphere was dead. It's hard for me to drive in from Rochester and spend three hundred+ with parking and concessions and not have much fun. I've loved hockey but it's been a long time since I saw a game that had any meaning. Somehow this is my/our fault?
  13. I think the style of play is so much better. They are actually entertaining.
  14. I joked at my Key bank branch if they were giving tickets away. They told me they might not have any takers, because I am sure they only watch the standings. You have to be a real fan to have any hope, which I do, but I can see how it's a bigger lift for others. For some reason this feels a bit like when Pominville, Miller, Roy and Campbell were in Roch. It just had a good feeling of optimism. Hope I'm right.
