I saw this today. I guess he isn't as far along as he'd like to be. Just a side note, does anyone know what he specifically injured? It's a little annoying listening to Vanek say "it felt ok" or "it's still not quite there yet" when we don't know what "it" is. Even more annoying is the fact that on the Sabres web site they have an entire medical glossary for medical terms that may be associate with injuries. However, Lindy Ruff never describes an injury any more than "upper" or "lower" body injuries.

Vanek ALWAYS has that pained look on his face, FWIW. Why would they not keep the opposing team questioning whether Vanek will be back or not?

So, an article in the News says that Vanek took a punch in the face and seems like he almost broke his jaw again. Paille? Looking to knock Vanek out? Seems he slashed at Paille's stick and after practice knocked the whole stick rack over in disgust.

Now that's what I call playing for a spot in the lineup.
