  1. Not trying to excuse the abomination of a game today, however, this was the one game where the Jets cryptic communication regarding the use of Tebow would actually hamper their opponents game planning ability. It seemed to me the Bills were inadequately prepared against the pass and had solely planned to stop the run, which they seemed to be pretty effective at for the most part. I'm sure I'm not the only one, though, who was troubled to see two first round DB's thoroughly exploited by virtually unknown Jets receivers. All in all, this team is only going to go as far as Fitzpatrick takes them. In that sentiment, who's ready for the draft?
  2. I think you're forgetting to factor in the fact that his lead ins were: Taylor Hicks, Marco Rubio, and an old man having an argument with a chair.
  3. The Freeh Report findings actually reminded me quite a bit of the Enron fraud and ensuing bankruptcy. Lack of tone from the top, improper governance by a board, concentrated power in the hands of a few top executives/administrators, all contributing to a weak control environment that allowed for federal law to go unfollowed for 20 years. To me, the university as a whole is dragged into this situation due to the inactions of the board to foster a culture of accountability and transparency. Just as the Enron fraud yielded new legislation and regulation, I won't be surprised to see similar actions come out of this situation.
  4. My guess is it's a combination of overvaluing plus being hamstrung by Nash's limited destinations list. I'm sure that Howson's seen some attractive offers...just not from clubs that Nash would be willing to go to.
  5. He actually has a couple books out that I know of: Spanking the Donkey and The Great Derangement. I've read Derangement and found it to be very enjoyable. I think I read somewhere that he's beginning work on a new one as well. He's the closest comparable writer to Hunter Thompson these days.
  6. Griftopia by Matt Taibbi and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.
  7. You can add Cavanaugh's in Center City to that list. Good luck getting a television on a Friday or Saturday though...the place gets packed. BTW, Cereal, real sorry to hear about your expereince at Slainte. Usually everytime I've gone the place is empty so I get the huge TV right behind the bar on the game and drink overpriced booze and eat overpriced food. I agree that it's nothing really special. Just your typical overpriced bar sporting an irish flavor (with Center Ice).
  8. I've found this thread to be quite helpful so I figured I'd add another place I found in the D.C. area: Union Jack's in Columbia, MD. Pretty good adult beverage selection. It's right near the mall in Columbia, for those who are familiar. I believe Union Jack's is a franchise around the area so there are probably other locations as well.
  9. Klaus Daimler: calm, collected, German.

  10. I call BS on that interview. How can you see with any measure of truth that you look at "each play individually" if you weight in a players reputation/history with a suspension ruling? I think it's fair to factor in whether or not a player is a repeat offender, but don't lie and use cliches in which you claim to look at each play on a case by case basis. In addition, after reading Frasor's article, doesn't it make sense to include former referees in the disciplinary process? Of course a committee makes too much sense for the NHL to pursue, however, I think former officials should be included as they probably know intricacies on plays better than most of the players.
  11. Hey buddy, I'm not sure about the accountants in your neck of the woods but our accounting firm softball league gets pretty intense. I've gotten Buster Posey'd a couple of times manning the backstop.
  12. Eh, what are you going to do? Move on, hope for a suspension and that Miller isn't seriously injured. With a relatively short period to the Montreal game they can focus on the next opponent. Then when Boston comes to Buffalo in a couple of weeks give Tyler Seguin's hips a test and conveniently forget how to stop when driving to the net. Hell, are we really concerned about Kaleta getting another suspension if they're going to win every game he's not on the ice? This isn't rocket science and it certainly isn't Buffalo's last game against Boston. I'd like to think that guys like Robyn Reghr will step up after this and make sure to deliver a message that Pomminstein, who I'm sure is dreaming about that coveted Lady Byng award after his start to the season, could never seriously deliver.
  13. I give the Jets a lot of credit, their coaching staff took the full two weeks to prepare for this game. However, I think the Chan really hamstrung himself by trying to avoid going to Johnson, and therefore Revis, the entire first half. Don't get me wrong, Revis is a terrific corner. However, Stevie is 6'2" and a real effective route runner capable of bailing Fitzpatrick out of bad passes. You have to throw to him in order to at least get the safety's thinking that they might be throwing that way. I find that Chan gets very conservative in his playcalling against good corners. Even if Fitz isn't on the money with every throw, it's impossible to spread the D the way the Bills do when successful when not utilizing all of your receivers. I look forward to seeing them adjust and respond on the road against a good Dallas team.
  14. I went to Slainte in Fells Point and found it to be a pretty decent place to watch a game. There weren't any specials so the brews were a bit expensive but everyone in the place was their to watch hockey. It seems like the type of place that could get busy on a Saturday so I'd get there early. Good luck finding parking. It took me 15 min. to find a spot on a Wednesday.
  15. I was wondering if anyone knew of any bars with center ice to watch the Sabres in Columbia, MD or Baltimore? Thanks in advance.
