shrader
The Sabres (Pirates) can no longer bring the Funk. It's a sad sad day.
CallawaySabres
I was always hoping he would make it just so I could buy the jersey......
LabattBlue
I always thought Funk had some potential, but I think injuries have taken their toll on him. He missed 20+ games each of his first two years and then almost the entire season last year with I believe concussion problems.

silvermike
Another 2nd round choice goes bye-bye... It's not losing a player who was a 2nd round choice that bothers me, it's spending a second round choice on a guy who wasn't good enough to keep. Take a look at 2nd rounds in the past. Even at that early stage in the draft, the success rate is pretty low. So really, they missed on a 2nd round pick, **** happens. shrader
Well at least they still have a guy named Card... Or not. The only worthwhile name on their roster will be Schutz.
spndnchz
They only signed Schutz and Gogulla because it sounded like "Shits and Giggles".
shrader
They only signed Schutz and Gogulla because it sounded like "Shits and Giggles". I thought it was all a part of the effort to make Hecht feel more comfortable. First the extension and then a pair of Germans.
R_Dudley
Well at least they still have a guy named Card... Well actually nope not according to this Portland article.... In other notes: According to mainehockeyjournal.com, the Sabres didn?t tender qualifying offers to forward Dylan Hunter, defensemen Mike Card and Michael Funk and goalie Adam Dennis. The restricted free agents can now sign elsewhere. Card and Funk spent a little time in Buffalo. Both have battled concussions recently. ... Mbossy
This kid's got problems. He's already had two concussions. His first was on day one of camp last Sept, came back two months later, played 13 games and got concussed again. Dr's told him to end the season. His eggs are scrambled. shrader
What do you mean? We still need to sweeten the deal. I'm still confused as to whether or not increased sugar packet hoarding should lead to more or less sweetening of deals.
spndnchz
It's reported that Funk signed a deal with Vancouver today. Not sure how much, or how little. Hopeful for him it includes an endless supply of aspirin.

spndnchz
Yesterday, actually. :nana: My favorite comment from there Glassy, Funky, and Tres Bien. At least we can give them cool nicknames, cuz they sure aren't going to see ice time, let alone keep the Canucks' bench warm. You can do better, Canuckleheads.
