There's still a few technical deficiencies in his game that need to be worked out and it's best, IMO, for a young goaltender to fine tune his game at the AHL level. That said you ride the hot hand.

Isn't it amazing how much a competent goaltender can energize a team? I've been advocating for KA to send UPL back down ASAP, but sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle. Let it ride!

We need to pump the brakes on expectations. He hasn't played in 6 months, on a new team, coming of shoulder surgery... It'll probably take him the remainder of the season to get back to where he was.

Trotz's system doesn't create many chances for the offense... they have the fewest shots for in the league at even strength. Last season they were 15th.

He covers the bottom of the net very very well, side-to-side. IIRC, when he was getting lit up in pre-season, they were shooting high glove. Like you said, teams will start scouting him more aggressively now, so we'll have a better idea of how much progress he's made after a few more weeks.

Because he can, and it's best for him long term. He goes from being a guy splitting time, HOPING to not screw up... To THE #1 guy, relied on heavily and in a winning environmental.

Have a group of senior officials review the decisions of the review crew in Toronto and a final executive committee to review the reviews of the senior officials reviewing the reviews of the crew in Toronto reviewing the games in real-time. On ice refs --> Toronto --> Senior officials --> Executive Committee

Oof... my 15 yo tested positive for mono only 1 week after moving into prep school back in September. He missed 4 weeks of hockey, could still practice but no contact due to enlarged spleen at risk of rupturing.

He's better than he was in preseason, but still needs work. Send him down when Subban is ready.

They didn't even come out and say it was onsides, just that "possession" was inconclusive and the call on the ice shiuld stabd... even though they have a clear replay of the entire sequence. So what that tells me is that it's up to the linesmen officiating the game to enforce their own interpretation of "possession" when deciding if a play is offsides.

What's wrong with Quinn?

It's not just about individual development. It's about learning how to win, being in a winning locker room. Understanding the attention to detail required to consistently put your team in a position to win games. If these kids can learn these winning habits at the minor pro level, they have a better chance to carry those same habits with them to Buffalo.

I still get cravings, it's been decades but I can still taste and smell it like it was yesterday. My kids will never understand 😩.
