From my own experience... guys that sign early are typically after the paycheck (or they're bona-fide superstars), whereas guys who wait are more interested in personal development... not just hockey, but there's a social angle as well to the college experience vs the responsibilities associated with being a pro (more business like, sleep schedules, eating right, mundane routines, etc..).

I can confidently say that Levi is not afraid of competition. In fact, he thrives on it. He's most likely irked at the way the season ended and wants to have one more go around with his buddies. The NHL will always be there for him, no need to rush. -

Best case scenario IMO. -

Beat case scenario both Portillo and Levi are probably 2-3 years away from establishing themselves in the NHL... if they make it that far. Goaltenders are difficult to forecast. Goalies that set records in junior or NCAA and didn't make it to the NHL are a dime a dozen. That said, if I'm KA, I'm still looking at goalies in the draft. -
Freakishly tall players always take longer to develop. He'll get more physical as he fills out his frame.

Might have Power in the lineup vs Toronto 👀 If they continue to compete every shift every period I'll be happy with whatever the outcome may be.

<s> Zegras hahaa, what a punk. Showing up the Coyotes with his unnecessary razzle dazzle and obnoxious celly. He coulda just scored normally and skated to the bench. So for that he deserves to get beat up. </s> That's what it was like when I played, so I get where they're coming from... but the game isn't like that anymore, they should realize this.

My source says Portillo is more likely to sign than Levi. -

Cal Peterson was drafted in 2013. He played the following season in the USHL, then played 3 years at Notre Dame after which he became free agent. If Portillo returns to Michigan he would officially become a UFA July 1st 2023. -

He's simply a prospect at this point. Look, he had a great college season, but it's a huge jump to the NHL for a goaltender. I'm concerned NHL shooters will eat him alive upstairs, so lets pump the breaks just a bit. -

He was slow to get up after blocking a shot last game, could be a bruised foot/ankle. -

Even tho they're out of the playoff picture, it's nice to actually look forward to watching them play at this time of year for a change. -

Can we win a Cup without a Superstar forward?
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
You need either a couple superstar forwards or a superstar goalie. -
I could see a penalty for a play which attempts to gain an unfair advantage or victimize another player. Who is the victim here? I'd rather my goalie be upset and make himself a spectacle instead of showing apathy. One of my boys, when he was about 13 or 14, smashed his stick across the crossbar in anger, breaking it in two. I made him pay for his own replacement stick and he never did it again. That said, these are pro athletes, maybe you fine them? A penalty? Nah. They're humans, they have emotions, let them express themselves.

Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
pi2000 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I love what he's done with this group this season... but if we're talking playoffs, he'll need to implement a more disciplined defensive system. As far as I can tell, he's not asking much from this group when it comes to defensive responsibility other than to back-check hard. They're playing free and loose, which good to a certain point, but I, for one, don't want these kids developing bad habits when it comes to defending.... especially when trying to hold down leads late in games. Playoff teams have the ability to lock games down once they get a lead... haven't seen anything remotely close from a DG coached team. -
As someone who's played, I have no idea why that should be considered a penalty. It's an emotionally charged sport, let players show emotion and vent their frustration.... especially in this day and age where everyone is hyper-sensitive about mental well-being. Let players play.
