  1. Tulsa has a QB named Chad President http://m.espn.com/ncf/playercard?playerId=3917007&src=desktop Look out, Idriss Déby. He’s coming for ya! (Yes I obviously had to google the President of Chad)
  2. Erik Karlsson hasn’t recorded a point since 11/11. That’s a 9 game span (all of them after the Duchene trade). Odd
  3. Kane’s baseball-style goal that tied VGK with just 8.9 seconds left:
  4. Larry didn’t touch it inside the zone until the other Sabres had checked up.. so that should have been a delayed offsides, cleared, play now back onside. Right??
  5. I don’t know enough about hockey systems, and I assuredly don’t know enough about Housley’s system. But I’ll pose this question: If we suck because we haven’t yet figured out the system, why would we abandon trying to learn the system? It’s already a lost season. If we abandon it and go loosey-goosey, how do we move forward as a cohesive team? Shouldn’t we work through the growing pains and figure out the system this year, flush the results, and have it implemented and smooth for the future? I’m not happy about that. But if Housley has a system and we just don’t know it yet, giving up would be a weak coaching move. If Housley has a system and it just sucks, well then we have bigger problems.
  6. Obviously I'd like to see OSU in, but... Bama absolutely deserved it over them. They made their own bed with the pathetic showing in Iowa. Bama-Clemson is the 3x rematch sports fans deserve.
  7. Completely useless but kinda fun story... I was in third grade when Boone hit the home run. The next day I went into art class and was given an assignment I didn’t like. I blew off the instructions and created a drawing of Boone hitting the walkoff. I was (and still am) severely limited in my artistic abilities, so I respect the hell out of our talented friends around here. But somehow this deviant drawing of mine was a miracle. My art teacher and the entire art department liked it so much that they put it on the cover of the art show invitation and made it the centerpiece of the districtwide display. Pretty sure I threw it out when Boone tore his ACL.
  8. Derek Dorsett forced to retire due to another neck/spine issue. He left the team earlier in the month, but this bad news was just released today. http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/derek-dorsett-canucks-retire-neck-injury
  9. He does seem to be shooting wide a lot. I haven’t paid close enough attention to his stick.. is it possible he switched to a shorter one and it’s throwing him off?
  10. I’ve been to FNC, Nationwide in Columbus, and Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Buffalo is probably the worst, but that’s some stiff competition. Thoughts on Columbus: The arena district is pretty awesome for food/drink. The practice rink (IceHaus) is visible from the outside so you can sometimes catch early warmups). In-game production and general crowd atmosphere blow Buffalo away. There isn’t a bad seat in the arena, and the goal cannon/goal song is awesome if you’re rooting for the home team. Thoughts on Toronto: The shopping vibe outside ACC is pretty neat. I remember the bar options being decent but expensive. I was only at ACC for a World Cup game though, so it wasn’t their normal production. I did sit in the 300s with an obstructed view of the scoreboard. To remedy this, they have TVs posted. It was actually kinda cool, but obviously would rather see the scoreboard. It’s a corporate vibe. The view is obstructed because the 300s are under the boxes so you’re sitting under those, not rafters. Buffalo has some things going for it that others don’t. The ice skating at canal side is pretty neat. Same goes for the Harborcenter rinks. I always used to walk through to see if anything was going on after games. One time the puck had just dropped on a Beauts game, so I watched the Sabres lose and then the Beauts win. I love Pear Street and like 716, but there just aren’t enough food/beer options in a reasonable walking distance. I think a 100 point season would do wonders for our in-arena atmosphere. I rarely eat or drink at games (too expensive) so I can’t really comment on that. *Edit to change the spelling of Center -> Centre. Please forgive me, Canadian friends.
  11. I won’t wholeheartedly get behind the following rationale given that playoffs are in reach, but I will admit that this has crossed my mind: Tyrod has proven that he CAN’T win it all for us. Peterman hasn’t proven that he can’t. It’s sad that our QB purgatory has led us to a place where that isn’t an outlandish thought. Winner until proven loser??? I mean, that is crazy. But yet, crazier things have happened. And if Tyrod isn’t the guy, let the next guy prove that he isn’t the guy. Wash, rinse, repeat. Maybe my grandkids will see the playoffs :P
  12. My favorite beer is a seasonal Vanilla Porter from Four String, and the brewery had a release party today because it’s back! They served it up three ways: -Traditional Vanilla Porter -special batch infused with cinnamon and coffee -Rootbeer float style with vanilla ice cream I may have had all three ;)
  13. Operating from mobile here, and it didn’t attach. Just threw it on Imgur. Let’s try this way:
  14. I finally got my dog :) She is a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She belonged to a vet/breeder that showed CKCS. This little girl has a nose too short for showing (and therefore too short to breed future show dogs) so she was living at a boarding facility. She’s super calm and very affectionate. Her favorite hobbies are chasing leaves (pictured) and gently stealing my wife’s shoes and bringing them to her bed.
  15. Damn, Roy Halladay died in a plane crash today. He was great, a true pitcher that l admired growing up. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21331438/roy-halladay-40-dies-plane-crash-gulf-mexico
  16. Why do you guys hate me? :( OH-IO
  17. There is a squirrel living in my attic. The association rep wants to make sure it isn’t “just living on the roof” before sending in the eradicators. I may have to climb up there and get photo evidence of this nutty inhabitant.
  18. Today is Jack Eichel’s birthday. He is still only 21. The Sabres have an afternoon game so Jack has tonight to celebrate :P
  19. If I watched the game from my couch last night, I think I would agree with you. But I was sitting in section 221, surrounded by Jackets fans. And I said to one, “I hope they don’t pull Johnson. I don’t want to hear that effing cannon again.” I think there’s something to that. An empty netter scored against you is pretty deflating. It’s the nail in the coffin. This was already a tough loss. Tail end of a back-to-back, which is mentally and physically grueling. Housley probably wanted to skate it out, take the 4-1 loss, and file this one away. Allowing an ENG would have just been salt in the wound. There’s no real chance of scoring 3 goals on Bob in 2 minutes before they sneak one into the inviting cage. Departing from my serious take above... perhaps Housley was remember our power play struggles. This team routinely allows goals when the other team has fewer skaters, and that’s WITH a goalie in net. What the hell would they do without one? :P
  20. Didn’t see this shared the other day. Gudas took a flying right to the face. I’d hate to see about 99% of guys get whooped like this. But Gudas has delivered enough cheap shots.... https://twitter.com/myregularface/status/922972305290137600
  21. We both insure our cars through Geico. Never filed a claim (knock on wood) so I can’t share personal experience there. Bur for standard coverage, Geico was definitely the best price. You can also bundle renters insurance through one of their affiliates and get a small discount.
  22. “Home” game for me.. I’ll be there in my blue ROR jersey! My wife is going to rock a blue Myers :P
  23. Apologies that it took so long to post this... Consider it your intermission entertainment! ZEMGUS!
  24. Matthews is scary good at changing his shot angle and beating goalies... he did it to beat Crawford in OT the other night, and he just completely surprised Price tonight.
